be one of the safest buildings in town if there is ever an earthquake at your location. Power and
internet outages may cause widespread problem for a lot of people, but given a tier 4 data center's
multiple connections to both, it will probably still be on the grid and online.
Tier 4 data centers are designed to keep functioning in the face of unexpected events. Even if downed
power lines start a fire, both fire detection and fire suppression systems are redundant, so you can
expect at least one of the installed systems to work. Even if this for some reason does not work out, a
tier 4 data center has video monitoring and is staffed 24/7 so any fire should quickly be nipped in the
bud.
A backup power supply means that even if both power inputs go down the data center can continue to
function for at least enough time to fail over to another location and shut down gracefully.
