A project designed to raise awareness about cataract, working together with Helen Keller International to make this project possible. Taking a different perspective on the issue by looking at those around the cataract sufferers instead on the sufferers themselves.
2. Cataract is a curable eye condition with the proper
treatment. But in a country like Indonesia where
the minimum wage per month is under USD150, most
of the sufferers can’t afford the surgery and as
result remain blind for the most of their life.
3. If that’s not tragic enough, the surgery itself
comprises a simple procedure that takes a mere
twenty minutes and it can completely restore vision.
4. Helen Keller International is an organization
that mission is to save and improve the sight
and lives of the world’s vulnerable. They
envision a world where no one suffers from
preventable or treatable blindness, low
vision, or malnutrition.
5. Through the Eyes of the Loved Ones
is a design project made to spread
awareness about cataract.
6. This project focuses on the perspective of
the ‘Loved Ones’ instead of the sufferers.
For the condition will not only affect
oneself, but also those closest to them.
8. An installation exhibition on an open space
where the targeted audience and passer-by will
be able to freely explore the exhibition.
9. The exhibition will be held on 13th October 2016
which is the World’s Sight Day on the open space
in National Library at Bugis.
