children and young adults who have
a long life ahead of them.

Cornea is the clear, transparent, tissue covering the

enter the eye. Vision will be dramatically reduced or lost
if the cornea becomes cloudy due to disease, injury or
infection.

were collected last year.

undergone any eye surgery
• Doesn’t matter if you wear
glasses
• Diabetic can also donate
eyes
• Age is not a factor for eye
donation

cornea
• The use of artificial tissue for transplantation has
been unsuccessful

12. What to be Done?
• Inform your near and dear about eye donation.
• It is your moral obligation.
• Close the eyelids of the deceased
• Switch off the fan
• Cover the eye lids with wet cotton.
• Raise the head of the deceased slightly by placing
a pillow underneath
• Contact the nearest eye bank as quickly as
possible.
• Eye donation can be done only with the written
consent of the near and dear.
