It is no cakewalk being a parent, particularly a mom. In fact, if you are a mom of teens, the
scenario is likely to get worse. This happens particularly in the growing years of your children,
when the generation gap tends to leave a mark. You think that you have your kids best interests
at heart and they think that you are an old fashioned fuddy-duddy! Talk about a no-win
situation. But here are three tips which are guaranteed to keep your kids happy and yourself :
Large doses of understanding
Try and be more understanding. It is no crime for teenagers to wish for smart phones, cars,
branded clothes and disco visits. You as a mom need to talk out your feelings. Set down limits
for their nights out, keep a ground curfew and give them a reasonable allowance. While you
don’t need to go all out to ensure their safely, also do remember that you were also a teen once.
Spoonfuls of reasoning and acceptance
Many moms have trouble accepting the fact that their daughters are growing up. Come on, wake
up, mommy! Times are changing fast and you need to go with the flow. Accept your children as
they are and don’t moan the loss of your own youth for you need to remember your teens will
look for a friend in you.
Mommy is a friend and confidante
As is a known fact, teenage is a changeover period for both boys and girls. This is a very crucial
time for your teenagers. Be a sensitive and kind mother and always take a keen interest in their
daily activities and friends circle. This will make your children feel assured and they would come
to you with their problems.
