RESEARCHERS: FRANZ YEAN

INTRODUCTION
• The Siege of Tapaz, Capiz, Philippines, an event of significant
historical importance that is relatively unexplored in mainstream
narratives.
• The study aims to understand the concept of resistance, which
is viewed as a refusal to accept the status quo and a stand
against forces that suppress inherent rights and freedoms.
• The Siege of Tapaz is used as a case study to explore this
concept. Despite the event's profound impact on the local
community and the wider struggle for self-determination, it
remains largely unexplored within the academic realm.
• The thesis aims to fill this gap by employing a
multidisciplinary approach, using historical accounts, oral
narratives, and archival materials to provide a
comprehensive analysis of the event.
• The goal is to shed light on the untold stories of valor
and defiance that emerged from this event, contributing
to the existing body of knowledge on Philippine history,
resistance movements, and the dynamics of power in
colonial contexts.
