The result is an economic equation very different from what has prevailed in the physical
world: these online stores still have “best-sellers,” but the bulk of their sales comes from
their vast catalogs of less-popular titles, which collectively sell more than the most popular
items (or as Anderson sums up the concept by quoting an Amazon.com employee: "We
sold more books today that didn't sell at all yesterday than we sold today of all the books
that did sell yesterday."
