The Wright Brothers were the inventors of the airplane. Wilbur Wright was the older brother born in 1867 and died in 1912 at age 45. Orville Wright was the younger brother born in 1871 and died in 1948 at age 76. Together, the Wright Brothers invented and built the world's first successful airplane and achieved the first controlled, powered and sustained heavier-than-air human flight.
