1 Cor. 15:52
In a moment, in the twinkling of
an eye, at the last trump: for the
trumpet shall sound, and the dead
shall be raised incorruptible, and
we shall be changed.
• The trumpet sound will be such that there
will not be one soul which will not take
notice.
• What will happen when this Trumpet
sounds?
TIME WILL END
• Many believe Christ’s return will be the
beginning of His Kingdom
– 1 Cor. 15:24 “ Then cometh the end, when he
shall have delivered up the kingdom to God,
even the Father; when he shall have put down
all rule and all authority and power.”
TIME WILL END
• Kingdom dosen’t begin with the end of
reign
• Not going to deliver the Kingdom at
beginning
– The book says at the end
• 1 Cor. 15:25 “ For he must reign, till he
hath put all enemies under his feet.”
TIME WILL END
• It is the Last Day
– John 6:39-40 “And this is the Father's will
which hath sent me, that of all which he hath
given me I should lose nothing, but should
raise it up again at the last day. And this is the
will of him that sent me, that every one which
seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may
have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at
the last day.”
TIME WILL END
• John 6:44 “No man can come to me,
except the Father which hath sent me
draw him: and I will raise him up at the last
day.”
• John 6:54 “Whoso eateth my flesh, and
drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I
will raise him up at the last day.”
THE RESURRECTION OF THE
DEAD
• Our text Declares this fact
– “dead shall be raised incorruptible”
• “and we shall be changed.”
– 1 Thes. 4:16 “and the dead in Christ shall rise
first:”
– Verse 17 “Then we which are alive and
remain shall be caught up together with them
in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and
so shall we ever be with the Lord.”
THE RESURRECTION OF THE
DEAD
• To whom was Paul speaking?
– 1 Cor. 1:2 “Unto the church of God which is at
Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ
Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in
every place call upon the name of Jesus
Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:”
• Those who have been baptized into Christ
– Gal 3:26-27
THE RESURRECTION OF THE
DEAD
• Rev. 20:13-14 “And the sea gave up the
dead which were in it; and death and hell
delivered up the dead which were in them:
and they were judged every man
according to their works. [14] And death
and hell were cast into the lake of fire.
This is the second death.”
A UNIVERSAL JUDGMENT
• Rev. 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and
great, stand before God; and the books
were opened: and another book was
opened, which is the book of life: and the
dead were judged out of those things
which were written in the books, according
to their works.
A UNIVERSAL JUDGMENT
• Each person will give an account
– 2 Cor. 5:10 “For we must all appear before
the judgment seat of Christ; that every one
may receive the things done in his body,
according to that he hath done, whether it be
good or bad.”
• Having this knowledge
A UNIVERSAL JUDGMENT
• Should lead every man to repentance
• Acts 17:30-31 “And the times of this ignorance
God winked at; but now commandeth all men
every where to repent: [31] Because he hath
appointed a day, in the which he will judge the
world in righteousness by that man whom he
hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance
unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the
dead.”
• John 12:48
THE MATERIAL UNIVERSE WILL
BE DESTROYED
• Jesus said it would pass away
– Matthew 24:35 “Heaven and earth shall pass away,
but my words shall not pass away.”
• Peter tells us how it will pass away
– 2 Peter 3:10-11 “But the day of the Lord will come as
a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall
pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall
melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works
that are therein shall be burned up. [11] Seeing then
that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner
of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and
godliness,”
PUNISHMENT FOR THE
SINNERS
• 2 Thess. 1:7-9 “And to you who are
troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus
shall be revealed from heaven with his
mighty angels, [8] In flaming fire taking
vengeance on them that know not God,
and that obey not the gospel of our Lord
Jesus Christ: [9] Who shall be punished
with everlasting destruction from the
presence of the Lord, and from the glory
of his power;”
PUNISHMENT FOR THE
SINNERS
• Terms used to describe what they will
experience
• Romans 2:5-9
• Who will be cast into the lake of fire?
– Rev 20:15
– Rev 21:8
• That is what the Book says!
ETERNITY WILL CONTINUE
• While time as we know it will end
– Eternity will go on and on and on and on
– The state of the wicked is described as being forever and
forever
• Rev. 14:9-11 “And the third angel followed them, saying
with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his
image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his
hand, [10] The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath
of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup
of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire
and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in
the presence of the Lamb: [11] And the smoke of their
torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have
no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his
image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.”
ETERNITY WILL CONTINUE
• Matthew 25:46 “And these shall go away
into everlasting punishment: but the
righteous into life eternal.”
• Rev. 22:5 “And there shall be no night
there; and they need no candle, neither
light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth
them light: and they shall reign for ever
and ever.”
THE TRIUMPH OF THE
SAINTS
• Our hope will be revealed
• 1 Thes. 4:13-18 “ But I would not have you to be
ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep,
that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even
so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with
him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord,
that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of
the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For
the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a
shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the
trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up
together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the
air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore
comfort one another with these words.
THE TRIUMPH OF THE
SAINTS
• Rev. 21:4 “And God shall wipe away all
tears from their eyes; and there shall be
no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying,
neither shall there be any more pain: for
the former things are passed away.”
• What a glorious experience
