As I complete this book in early 2009, a number of crises are putting the world system under enormous pressure to make fundamental changes: economic breakdowns, growing climate disruption, the end of cheap oil, desperate poverty, violent conflicts over resources and religion, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and more. We are fulfilling the “Warning to Humanity” given by more than 1,600 of the world’s senior scientists, including a majority of
the Nobel laureates in the sciences. In 1992 they warned: “A great
change in our stewardship of the earth and the life on it is required,
if vast human misery is to be avoided and our global home on this
planet is not to be irretrievably mutilated.” If a “great change” in
our stewardship of life is essential, what does that change look like?
Given the enormous differences and divisions within the human
community, where can we find a commonly shared understanding
for building a new pathway into the future?
To align our efforts and fulfill our potentials, it is vital for the
human family to find a compelling sense of direction for living and
growing together. But what vision of humanity’s journey has the
breadth, depth, and reach to enable us to look beyond our many
differences and galvanize our efforts in building a promising future?
This integrative vision, or “great story,” of humanity’s journey can
be summarized as follows: The universe is deeply alive as an evolv-
ing and learning system and we humans are on a journey of discovery
within it. We are learning to live within a living universe. If we lose
sight of where we are (living in a living universe) we profoundly
diminish our understanding of who we are (beings of both biological and cosmic dimension) and where we are going (growing into an
ever more intimate relationship with the living universe).

Miss S. was a 60-year-old woman with a history of high blood pressure, which was not responding well to the medication she was taking. One evening she was sitting in her reclining chair reading the newspaper when the phone rang. She got out of her chair and walked to the phone. As she did, she began to feel giddy and stopped to hold onto the kitchen table. She has no memory of what happened after that.
The next morning, a neighbor, who usually stopped by to have coffee with Miss S., found her lying on the floor, mumbling incoherently. The neighbor called an ambulance, which took Miss S. to a hospital.
Two days after her admission, I visited her in her room, along with a group of neuropsychologists and neurological residents being led by the chief of neurology. We had already been told by the neurological resident in charge of her case that Miss S. had had a stroke in the back part of the right side of the brain. He had attached a CT scan to an illuminated viewer mounted on the wall and had showed us a white spot caused by the accumulation of blood in a particular region of her brain. (You can look at the scan yourself if you like; it is shown in Figure 5.19.)
About a dozen of us entered Miss S.’s room. She was awake but seemed a little confused. The resident greeted her and asked how she was feeling. “Fine, I guess,” she said. “I still don’t know why I’m here.”
“Can you see the other people in the room?”
“Why, sure.”
“How many are there?”
She turned her head to the right and began counting. She stopped when she had counted the people at the foot of her bed. “Seven,” she reported. “What about us?” asked a voice from the left of her bed. “What?” she said, looking at the people she had already counted. “Here, to your left. No, toward your left!” the voice repeated. Slowly, rather reluctantly, she began turning her head to the left. The voice kept insisting, and finally she saw who was talking. “Oh,” she said, “I guess there are more of you.”
The resident approached the left side of her bed and touched her left arm. “What is this?” he asked. “Where?” she said. “Here,” he answered, holding up her arm and moving it gently in front of her face.
“Oh, that’s an arm.”
“An arm? Whose arm?” “I don’t know…. I guess it must be yours.”
“No, it’s yours. Look, it’s a part of you.” He traced with his fingers from her arm to her shoulder.
“Well, if you say so,” she said, still sounding u.

Miss S. was a 60-year-old woman with a history of high blood pressure, which was not responding well to the medication she was taking. One evening she was sitting in her reclining chair reading the newspaper when the phone rang. She got out of her chair and walked to the phone. As she did, she began to feel giddy and stopped to hold onto the kitchen table. She has no memory of what happened after that.
The next morning, a neighbor, who usually stopped by to have coffee with Miss S., found her lying on the floor, mumbling incoherently. The neighbor called an ambulance, which took Miss S. to a hospital.
Two days after her admission, I visited her in her room, along with a group of neuropsychologists and neurological residents being led by the chief of neurology. We had already been told by the neurological resident in charge of her case that Miss S. had had a stroke in the back part of the right side of the brain. He had attached a CT scan to an illuminated viewer mounted on the wall and had showed us a white spot caused by the accumulation of blood in a particular region of her brain. (You can look at the scan yourself if you like; it is shown in Figure 5.19.)
About a dozen of us entered Miss S.’s room. She was awake but seemed a little confused. The resident greeted her and asked how she was feeling. “Fine, I guess,” she said. “I still don’t know why I’m here.”
“Can you see the other people in the room?”
“Why, sure.”
“How many are there?”
She turned her head to the right and began counting. She stopped when she had counted the people at the foot of her bed. “Seven,” she reported. “What about us?” asked a voice from the left of her bed. “What?” she said, looking at the people she had already counted. “Here, to your left. No, toward your left!” the voice repeated. Slowly, rather reluctantly, she began turning her head to the left. The voice kept insisting, and finally she saw who was talking. “Oh,” she said, “I guess there are more of you.”
The resident approached the left side of her bed and touched her left arm. “What is this?” he asked. “Where?” she said. “Here,” he answered, holding up her arm and moving it gently in front of her face.
“Oh, that’s an arm.”
“An arm? Whose arm?” “I don’t know…. I guess it must be yours.”
“No, it’s yours. Look, it’s a part of you.” He traced with his fingers from her arm to her shoulder.

This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the

advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is

The Story Tale about the Conscious
- 1. THE STORY TALE ABOUT THE CONSCIENCE. Written by Alma Leal Benavides. This was a round, round moon which had an ideal climate and also vegetation. There lived the creature-conscious who had no physical body, and therefore, they were completely free. They could travel at the velocity of light, and the only resemblance with the humans on earth was that they could feel, better say, they could understand Heath, Cold, Hunger, Pain, spiritual pain only, I must say. Oh! And they bore proper names. The main difference however, was not the lack of a body, but their life itself. Their life did not take place by the hour, neither by the year, or the average amount of years to die in the end, their life was being lived by infinite and eternal time and space. Another characteristic of these creature-conscious, was their vast erudition. Travelling as the light, they could be in places, no places, common places, and live worlds, death worlds, and they knew all the past which had no beginning and they knew all the future which never ends, as well. They could not only be there, also, they could understand it all because they were omniscient. One day, one of the creature-conscious was very sad. A friend asked her…¿Why are you so sad? And she replied: I have seen so many things lately. I have been observing the actions that the men with conscious carry on in Earth. Among all the living creatures of the Universe, the humans have been living over 1 million years under the same mental and corporal structure. They have not improved at all and I know of their feelings of unhappiness and uncertainty with which they live. They always construct their small worlds on earth in a temporal and weak manner, seldom do they take into account the force of Nature, and so many of them die, young and healthy at its peace. Also, they lack the wit to observe themselves; in order to correct their errors, they have to rely on others, and they are constantly asking for supernatural messages so as to keep their path.
