 The statute of limitations for medical malpractice in
Michigan is two years. This means a person has two
years after the action or inaction of a doctor caused
injury to file suit. Sometimes, however, injuries take
time to manifest. In that case, a person has up until six
months after he or she discovered, or should have
reasonably discovered, the injury to file suit. This
avenue is only open up to six years, after which the
claimant is barred from filing suit.
