25. Skill Training for the Migrants
Mr. Akash trained in the garments section and put into
the company. He is earning more after the skill
training. He was doing the job of Checking in the
garments company.
Mis. Surika Sophana was working in the garment
company. She did not like the job and She needed
computer training so we placed her in Marialaya.

26. Reaching out to Young migrants to
give them a better life
We are concentrating on the important places where
there are more migrant youngsters and we have
limited our territory to only city limit where there are
more Industries. During the field visit we found that
they are from Nepal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Assam
and other north eastern states. They work hard to earn
more money in order to send the money to the native
place. Four of them stay together in a single room and
pay the rent of Rs.2000 to 3000 per month.

27. Rescued Four Bonded migrant
labourers (Baiga Adivasi) in
Thanjavur
Migrant Youth Desk has addressed the migrant youth
issue at Thanjavure.
We could see this incident that there are bonded
labourers in the companies but its difficult task to
identify them.

They are denied of their rights in their own country
Government has come up with smart card and
Aadharcard but is not able to link the various schemes
and the public distribution system for all its citizens
throughout the country.

29. Christmas carols at the diocese
level and the Church
This year we encouraged them to participate the carol
competition in the diocese level.
They staged one Hindi Christmas song and one English
Christmas hymn.

30. Awareness was given to the MSW
Students
MSW students came to our institution to know about
our work. Fr. Arul kumar explained about Migrant
Desk services to them. They were 15 of them with head
of the department and staff accompanied on that day.

32. Motivational seminar for migrants
Migrants were not cared about their life
because they want to earn more money.
They worked hard but sometime they were
hopeless whenever they do mistake.
There was nobody to console them and

seminar in the church itself after the Sunday

Kovilvazhli for Garbage cleaners
We had awareness programme for the migrants those who are from Karnadaka
And Maharastria, Tamil Nadu. We have given the importance of education
And Labour welfare. Fr. Arulkumar introduced the migrant Desk to them in order to
get the help for any need. Fr. Xavier spoke about the coursed that offer to the drop
outs he asked them to send the children those who are not interested in studies.

Mr. Anath gave training to the staff for report writing.
He had attended the monitoring and documentation
training in KKID at Coiambatore. He trained the staff
on the various steps in monitoring and the methods in

44. Local people feed backs about
migrants in the city:
There is no proper work for local people and they lost
their job due to the migrants. They asked us to give
First preference for the Tamilians.

1 . The North Indian Hindi speaking people to get rid of
them too - ‘North Indian should be chased out’ If a
North Indian comes to Tamilnadu and doing a
business successfully and living like maharaja then
why not these people. Treat every human as human.

45. 2. The Telugu and Kannada Muslims Hindi valas and
Marwardis who come from neighboring states to make
Tamils minority in Tamil NaduThey express their
anger against them because they are taking away their
livelihood especially unskilled and manual works.
3. They worked hard for twelve hours a day but paid less
than the normal daily wages They really work hard
without any break during the working hours
