4. Narrative Ideas: Basic storyline – man is running away (but from what?!) Shots of the band will also feature Lead singer will appear as the protagonist in the narrative, an antagonist will be visible chasing him, but they remain unidentifiable until the end of the song. The storyline will centre around the protagonist, a young male, running away from something that appears to be threatening and following him. Throughout the video there will be flashbacks showing the protagonist with a young female, apparently in happier times. There will be a sinister atmosphere that is matched by the use of pathetic fallacy, rain to represent the ‘present’ – as the protagonist runs away, and sun to represent the ‘past’ – as the protagonist and the female appear in the flashbacks. The shots of the band will be edited in between the shots of the protagonist, with the lead singer (the protagonist) also appearing with the other band members. As the song progresses, and the singer becomes more strained, the appearance of the protagonist will deteriorate. The mise en scene will also develop - colours draining, costumes becoming duller etc At the end of the video, the protagonist appears to be dead. The twist of the story will show the antagonist and the protagonist being the same person.

5. Plan for Performance Elements: The band will appear in the drama studio and outside at different locations including the beach, the promenade, Newcastle city centre. The band will appear energetic, with the lead singer interacting with the camera. Close ups on instruments and band members will feature.

6. Brief requirements of filming Costumes – When the band performs, the costumes will be similar looking to ‘The Killers’ e.g. modern smart casual. When the protagonist is running, the clothes are going to be progressively degrading Locations – Band will be performing in the drama studio, seafront (maybe Cullercoats pier), and maybe other locations. Main character will be shot in the city (Newcastle), along the seafront (maybe Whitley Bay or Cullercoats beach), maybe even homes, and possibly Whitley Bay lighthouse. Props – Instruments of band e.g. guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard, and microphone, and mobile phone for start of song (plus maybe some more).
