The document discusses a presentation about games in the media. Slide 1 explains that while the video game industry is a large part of media, games are often blamed for issues like violence because many popular games include violent or inappropriate content. Slide 2 notes that the presenter has chosen to do a documentary on a Sunday evening on BBC 1 to debate whether gaming causes violence, as more people will be home then to watch one of the most popular channels. Slide 3 indicates the documentary aims to make the point that gaming does not actually cause people to become angry or violent, though there may be isolated incidents, and viewers will be asked to tweet their opinions after watching.
1. Games within the media
What to speak about duringthe presentation
Slide 1:
The video game industry isa massive partof the mediabut it has always
been the easiest to blame and scapegoat in the mediabecause most of the
top games out today includeviolence, sex, drugsand alcohol and because
most peopleplay or have played games.
The video game industry isone of my favouriteindustriesand it's the one
that's closest to me personally dueto growingup with it it so that is why i
have chosen to do gaming.
Slide 2:
I have chosen to do my documentary on a sunday night around 7pm because
more people will be in at home relaxing unlike saturday night. I’vealso chosen
BBC 1 as it is one of the mostpopular channels in the country. The show
would be a debate about people for gaming and againstgaming causing
violence.
Slide 3:
The whole point of the documentary is to get the point out about gaming
doesn’tcause people to get angry. Obviously thereare going to be incidents
fromgaming, they’reincidents to do with everything. Maybe after the
documentary, viewers will tweet in with their thoughts so we could get even
more opinions.
Slide 4:
Mention all of the ones stated.
Slide 5:
My idea of an ending to the show a quote about violence “Read Quote” which
is mainly biased against games causing violence but i thought it would be a
good addition.
