The organizational context for this change was a large mental health and development services
agency, serving the lifespan (infants to seniors) of the client population. It covered a large urban
and rural region, and multiple office sites. The organization was government-funded by several
health and social service ministries and was facing increasing accountability to provide detailed
quarterly and annual financial and service reports. The organization collaborated with a wide
range of community service partners, such as healthcare, education, justice, child welfare,
employment, and housing. This was a traditional organization with a hierarchical structure and
culture, and well-established policies and procedures (OConnor & Netting, 2009). It was governed
by a board of directors from the professional community. The senior leadership team included an
executive director, a director of clinical services, and a director of operations. The middle
management team consisted of program managers and clinical supervisors for each area
(developmental, childrens, adult and seniors mental health). There were interdisciplinary teams for
each area (20 staff each), with ranging professional capacities: mental health workers (masters
level social workers/therapists), family support workers (child and youth workers), crisis workers
(nurses, social workers), developmental service workers (BA level), consulting psychologists and
psychiatrists. This organization had undergone continuous changes, including a merger, multiple
program expansions, and team/service restructuring. There was a new executive director and
director of service, who were both inexperienced in these positions. These directors introduced a
new mission, vision, values, and strategic directions for the organization, including staff
empowerment and the creation of self-directed teams. An external consultant trained all staff on
having difficult conversations with one another, to increase staffs sense of safety and comfort in
providing feedback to the organization. This initiative was not followed through, and staff feedback
indicated they were feeling dissatisfied and mistrustful of management. Specifically, they
requested improved communication and more involvement in decision-making. Organizational
Issue The executive director and director of service decided to introduce a rapid shift in childrens
services. First, the childrens mental health (CMHS) staff and the developmental services (DS) staff
were integrated under the DS manager, who became the childrens services (CS) manager. This
CS manager was new to the supervisors and staff in CMHS, and this change coincided with the
departure of the long-time CMHS manager. Second, the CMHS team was changed to a self
directed team model. This change was based on a pilot project with DS staff, where a self-directed
team format had been introduced. These changes were undertaken quickly, over a two-month
period. Supervisors roles were changed significantly.

The North American automotive industry has been facing significant challenges in recent years as
the "Big Three" restructure their operations to respond to increased foreign competition, difficult
economic conditions, and shifting demand as con- sumers migrate toward more fuel-efficient

organization and personnel planning processes and tools to ensure that the organization structure,
internal selection practices, and succession management systems are aligned to support the
future needs ofthe firm and the needs ofits employees. With a strategic focus on maintaining a
"People Development Framework," succession planning is a key element ofthe organization and
personnel planning function. The HR team reviews four major areas offocus in order to make
better decisions about the organization's future direction for personnel requirements. In addition to
assessing the impact ofexternal factors such as world events, the changing mar- ketplace, and
workforce demographics, team members regularly review the opera- tional plans in place so that
functional HR objectives and action plans are properly developed and aligned to meet the long-
term goals ofthe business. Ongoing reviews of the organization structures are conducted to
ensure that the delivery of the organization's business priorities is achieved in an efficient, flexible,
and affordable manner by assessing factors such as the size of the organization, the percentage
ofresources deployed at each level and function, and the attraction and retention potential of the
leadership level and salary grade system. Lastly and most impor- tantly, the "people equation" is
evaluated on an ongoing basis to ensure that the organization has the right people in the right
positions at the right time to help the organization achieve success. Personnel development
committees (PDCs) play a central role within Ford of Canada to identify and match employee
capabilities to key positions to ensure appropriate bench strength is in place. Committees exist for
three broad levels of the organization including senior executive, business unit management, and
line management, and PDC composition includes managers from all functional busi- ness areas to
ensure cross-functional opportunities can be efficiently explored and utilized for employee
development. In conjunction with department managers, PDC members are charged with the
responsibility of identifying employees who demonstrate outstanding leadership abilities, strong
and continual learning, and superior job performance, and then matching employees to key
positions. PDCs assess candidate bench strength for particular key positions or job families using
a visual aid called a "T" chart. Employees immediately qualified are plotted on the horizontal
section of the "T" while employees with future potential who require further development are
identified in rank order in the vertical region o.

The MINT Creative Production has been awarded a 4M scope of.pdfadelectricals
The MINT Creative Production has been awarded a $4M scope of works for theming works, along
the way client issued a change order of about 1M and because of the covid pandemic and MINT
management struggling and started their dispute with the client due to a shortage on manpower
So the client deployed manpower with high rates and MINT management agreed to that So, to
accelerate the delays the client deployed manpower however due to project budget shortage
(technically they stopped paying MINT until the end of the day they want to see how much the bills
are going to be to settle the rest of the amount considering the deployment of their own
manpower) Back to budget shortage the MINT site team was placing orders for material, and
MINT got delayed approval from MINT internal management to have that arranged to the site -
and in some instances, it reached more weeks plus so all this caused an extension of time to the
deployed manpower. Therefore the extension of time for scaffolding rental....etc This caused a
back charge of $2M So let's say MINT got paid 50% of the project at that time of construction
which was advance payment and some progress payments and then this back-charging happens
So from the original scope that was $4M, MINT got around $2M The change orders were not paid
because of the charges and the pending progress payments also were not paid until the client and
MINT Creative Production both signed that "yes we agree that's the case" which didn't happen
while construction is still ongoing, and it ended in court. Recommendation: In the case mentioned
above, there are several alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods that can be considered.
These include: 1. Mediation: In this method, a neutral third party (the mediator) helps the parties to
reach a mutually acceptable solution. Mediation is a voluntary and confidential process, and the
mediator does not make a decision but rather facilitates the discussion between the parties. 2.
Arbitration: This is a more formal process than mediation, where an arbitrator is appointed to hear
both sides of the dispute and make a binding decision. The decision of the arbitrator is final and
binding, and there is limited scope for appeal. 3. Negotiation: This is a process where the parties
attempt to reach a mutually acceptable agreement through direct negotiation. Negotiation can be
conducted either directly between the parties or with the assistance of a third party. 4. Expert
determination: This method involves the appointment of an independent expert who provides an
opinion on a technical or legal issue in dispute. The expert's opinion is binding on the parties. 5.
Early neutral evaluation: This is a process where a neutral third party provides an assessment of
the merits of each party's case. The evaluation is not binding but can be used to facilitate
settlement negotiations. The choice of the ADR method will depend on the specific circumstances
of the dispute, the preferences of the parties, a.
The motor carrier industry is probably the most visible segm.pdfadelectricals
The motor carrier industry is probably the most visible segment of the transportation system in the
United States. The motor carrier is also the most significant element of the U.S. freight transport
industry. What factors account for the motor carrier's visibility and significance?
The railroad industry played a significant role in the development and growth of many cities and
geographic regions during the 19th century. What role, if any, have motor carriers played during
the 21st century in terms of economic development?
Compare and contrast the TL segment of the motor carrier industry with the LTL segment in terms
of infrastructure, cost structure, market structure, and operating characteristics.
In summary, it's time to understand your parcel characteristics as well as how the carriers will view
your business. If you can position yourself and partners to be a shipper that parcel carriers can
serve profitably, you will be rewarded with better discounts and have stronger negotiating
leverage. Source: Peter Moore, Logistics Manogement, March 2017, p. 12. Reprinted with
permission of Peerless Media, LLC. Introduction The motor carrier industry played an important
role in the development of the U.S. economy during the 20th century, and it continues this role in
the 21 st century. The growth of this industry is noteworthy considering it did not get started until
World War I, when converted automobiles were utilized for pickup and delivery in local areas. The
railroad industry, which traditionally had difficulty with small shipments that had to be moved short
distances, encouraged the early motor carrier entrepreneurs. It was not until after World War II
that the railroad industry began to seriously attempt to compete with the motor carrier industry,
and by that time it was too late. The United States has spent more than $128.9 billion to construct
its interstate highway system and the process has become increasingly dependent on this system
for the movement of freight. The major portion of this network evolved as the result of a bill signed
into law in 1956 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to establish the National System of Interstate
and Defense Highways, which was to be funded 90 percent by the federal government through
fuel taxes. As the interstate system of highways developed from the 1950 s to 1991 , motor
carriers steadily replaced railroads as the mode of choice for transporting finished and unfinished
manufactured products. Today, motor carriers have the largest share of U.S. freight movements
among all the pages of trapsportation.Significance In 2015, motor carriers moved 10.5 billion tons
of freight in the United States, which represents roughly 70 percent of the total U.S. freight
tonnage, and generated $726.4 billion in freight revenues, which represents about 81.5 percent of
the U.S. freight bills. 1 This means that, on average, 82 cents of every dollar spent on
transportation in the United States goes to the trucking industry. .
The mosquito Aedes albopictus which was introduced from Asi.pdfadelectricals
The mosquito Aedes albopictus, which was introduced from Asia to North America in the 1980 s,
is a public health concern because it can transmit diseases such as dengue fever. This species
breeds in small volumes of water, such as those in tree holes (cavities in trees that can hold water)
and in objects such as old tires. As it colonized these breeding habitats in North America, A.
albopictus encountered thriving populations of several different native species of mosquitoes.
Livdahl and Willey (1991) sought to predict the outcome of competition between A. albopictus and
the native mosquito A. triseriatus, a predominant member of tree hole communities. To do this,
they estimated competition coefficients and carrying capacities for A. albopictus and A. triseriatus
mosquito larvae developing in fluid obtained from tree holes and from tires. Their results are
shown in the table below: 1. We are going to designate A. triseriatus as species 1 and A.
albopictus as species 2. Use the data in the table to plot the zero isoclines for these two species
competing in tree hole communities. Predict the equilibrium population density (no. individuals
/100ml of fluid) for each species. Describe the likely outcome of competition between these two
species in tree hole communities. 2. On a separate graph, plot the zero isoclines for these two
species competing in tires. Predict the equilibrium population density (no. individuals /100ml of
fluid) for each species. Describe the likely outcome of competition between these two species in
tires..

The Morgan Company
Senior managers at The Morgan Company had devel-
oped a new and inspiring mission statementone that
set a new direction for the company with ambitious
strategic goals. Management continually emphasized
the new strategy and asked employees what they
needed to do to achieve the new goals. Although
some employees didnt want to embrace the new stra-
tegic direction, most were excited to participate in and
support the new strategy. The employees began to
make suggestions for improving the organization and
identifying the necessary changes. Many of their ideas
pointed to a significant change in the culture of the
organization. And that was when the wheels fell off.
Employees were told to step back; management didnt
want to make any radical changes. They were told
that they could only change one or two items and
then only to a very small degree. No money could be
spent, and the actions of senior management implied
that employees ideas really didnt matter. People
became disillusioned and disgruntled. At least two
people left every month for other positions during
the last 18 months of the 24-month transformation
process. The best people left since they had no voice
and no ability to change a broken organization.
Discussion Questions
1. How did management fail in its strategic
planning?
2. What principles and ideas discussed in this
chapter might have helped this organization
succeed in meeting the new strategy?.

evaluated on an ongoing basis to ensure that the organization has the right people in the right
positions at the right time to help the organization achieve success.

Describe the likely outcome of competition between these two species in
tires..

The Morgan Company Senior managers at The Morgan Company had.pdfadelectricals

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
