- Slide 1: Good Afternoon, My name is Audric. I am a Business Analyst / Functional Consultant for more 1 year and a half now. I am also a Team leader. I am in charge with several colleagues of the onboarding for new comers and their day-to-day follow-up on their projects. Today, I will talk about the new smart reconciliation tools in the Odoo V12.
- Slide 2: Here is the agenda for my talk. I will first talk about the context and then about the new features. But, nothing is better than a quick demonstration in order for you to see real business cases. I will then finish with a small recap and a Q1A session.
- Slide 4: The reconciliation is a process very important for your company and your accountant. This process allows you to maintain the accuracy of your data between your book entries and your cash balance It can help you finding errors in the records, for example, you have forgotten to record an invoice in the system but it is well paid on your bank account. Or, you have paid an amount without having received any invoice. You can also notice that a banking transaction, such as a credit received, or a charge made by the bank, has not yet been recorded in the organization's books Thanks to the reconciliation, you can also assure a good payment follow-up for receiving or sending money Some transaction may not have any supporting documents. For example, your bank charges directly fees on your bank account. You have then to manually choose the counterpart On a daily basis, It can take up too much of your valuable time. Reconciliation needs to be easy and fast. A good reconciliation tool is essential and this is why Odoo has decided to improve it.
- Slide 6: Odoo is trying to save your time for more valuable matters. This is why we have improved our reconciliation tool.
- Slide 7: First, the algorithm that suggests you the matching invoice has been improved. The matching is now more accurate and can already help you to save time thanks to a refactoring of the algorithm.
- Slide 8: Reconciliation models have been improved to give you more rapidity and more automation. This brand new feature will have for sure a positive impact on your way to reconcile.
- Slide 9: Here is the new reconciliation model. You have several types and you can also define conditions. Manually create a write-off on clicked button: This option is the same as we have for the moment in Odoo. You can pre-define the counterpart account on which one you want to record the write-off. In one click, you can record your entry Suggest a write-off: this type of model suggests you the accurate counterpart according to the different rules specified on the model Match existing invoices/bills: Same option as the current one in Odoo but improved thanks to the different conditions. The accuracy of the suggestion is now more accurate than before. The Auto-Validate: this is a brand new feature. According to the different rules, Odoo will automatically reconcile the entry. This means that you can save time on daily tasks, no more manual action needed. You have to pay attention to the fact that auto-validation should be activated cautiously.
- Slide 10: I will now make a small demo. This will be easier to demonstrate the different behavior in real cases.
- Slide 13: To conclude, Odoo tries to give you a better matching thanks to the algorithm, A quicker reconciliation thanks to advanced models in Auto-validation or suggestion. At the end, you will save time on your reconciliation tasks but you need to act carefully. You should test in several cases with the suggestion before activating the automated validation.
