- #3 About ME…Mistory Patient said you won’t believe what you are washing your kids in!! Proceeded to show me products that claim to be “pure, safe and Beneficial”. As it turns out, these products were FULL of chemicals, and very dangerous ones! I began to seek out a product that I could feel safe washing my family in. I would look at many different brands, and once I learn to read beyond their marketing claims I was continuously disappointed in what I would find. - #4 According to a report released yesterday by the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), the rate of antidepressant use in this country among teens and adults (people ages 12 and older) increased by almost 400% between 1988–1994 and 2005–2008. 1 in 4 women are taking an antidepressant drug, these have VERY dangerous side effects. Listed in the insert for these serotonin reuptake inhibitors ( homicidal and suicidal tendencies PLUS poor impulse control) THIS IS IN THE DRUG INSERT!!! ADHD rates are rising 5% a year… Number of children 3-17 years of age ever diagnosed with ADHD: 5.9 million Data from the National Health Interview Survey (2011-2012)4 revealed that 7.5 percent of American children ages 6 through 17 take a medication prescribed for emotional or behavioral difficulties. Children as young as 18 months are now receiving them!! These The federal government’s health statisticians figure that about one in every 10 Americans takes an antidepressant. And by their reckoning, antidepressants were the third most common prescription medication taken by Americans in 2005–2008, the latest period during which theNational Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) collected data on prescription drug use. www.cancer.ca Canadian Cancwer society says the number of new cancer cases in Canada is expected to rise about 40% in the next 15 years, according to a new report –Canadian Cancer Statistics 2015. Survival rate has improved but that is VERY deceiving because we have better detection equipment and more cancer screenings… so we find the cancer earlier. TO be considered “cured” or labeled as a “survivor”, you must be cancer free for 5 years.. Cancer is detected earlier, but people are still dying at the same age.. We are just detecting it earlier, so they “survive”, because they are loving past the 5 year “survival” period has past. WE are doing something VERY wrong…
- #5 In 1970’s President Nixon declared a War on Cancer”… more than a quarter century later after BILLIONS of dollars poured in to research, it has been ruled that we have lost the war. Researchers are puzzled and they want to know “why are we losing the war on cancer?” Cancer Rates are rising rapidly…( say rates) THE REASON WHY WE ARE LOSING THE WAR is because we are focused on finding a CURE, when really we should look to the cause. The CDC says that 90–95% cancers are due to environment and lifestyle, NOT GENETICS…It is not that we have just been dealt a bad hand…this should be great news, right? If it is due to our environment, then we can just change what is causing it right? Not when a hold industry is concealing evidence of how toxic and dangerous their chemicals are…

It is not due to genetics, it is not that you have been dealt a bad hand.. SO in my search to find healthy products I was absolutely stunned at just how dangerous chemicals found in products were!!!!

This is NO JOKE. These are chemicals that are found in all of the personal care products you use!!! This should be VERY alarming to you , because we now know that anything you put on your skin goes directly in to your body…EWG
- #8 EWG is a public advocacy group in the area of toxic chemicals.. Chemicals pass through the skin… assessed the cord blood of babies BEFORE the were born, so still in the womb, never having been outside in the real world yet.. And the found astonishing results. When you see a pregnant woman and you ask her, “what are you hoping for? A boy or a girl? What is always their answer? I don’t care as long as it is… what? HEALTHY! Health is what we want most for our children. Pregnant women often change their habits to protect their developing babies. They may change the foods they eat, stop alcohol consumption and smoking. But unfortunately, we have not reached the same level of understanding and action when it comes to reducing environmental exposures, which can also have significant impacts on fetal development and long-term health. These chemicals found in products and in our environment go straight to the developing baby who is much more susceptible to damage at this crucial developmental stages… EWG found in the CORD BLOOD of babies, so before they have ever even step foot on this planet… 287 chemicals, 217 are TOXIC to brain and Nervous System and 208 are known to cause birth defect!!! 180 KNOWN TO CAUSE CANCER in HUMANS!! This baby has toxic chemicals floating through its bloodstream before it is EVEN BORN…largely due to the toxins that the pregnant woman is exposed to through her environment. And if there are 180 chemicals in a baby before it is born, no wonder we are losing the war on Cancer!!!!!!

We are exposed to lots of chemicals in our home in the food that we eat, water that we drink, in our cookware and in our cleaning and personal care products. What they found in their state of evidence report that exposure to endocrine disrupting hormones, mimic your body’s natural hormones and interfere with and block them. These hormone mimicking chemicals such as BPA and phthalates lead to estrogen dominant cancer, like breast cancer, infertility and miscarriages. - #11 Anytime you see “fragrance” on a label, it can be can be up to 3000 different ingredients, and lead to problems such as asthma, allergies, migraines and headaches.
- #12 "Let's look at your typical label“.. Through my research I found there are over 10,500 unique chemical ingredients used in products and only 11% have ever been tested for safety. ON average a person uses 9 different products daily, this ranges from deodorant, shave gel, shampoo, soap, cosmetics, perfume/cologne, hair products… and on average by using those products, you expose yourself to over 126 different chemicals a day! And we would believe since we can buy these products full of chemicals that they would be safe, right? Just look at some of the ingredients commonly found in personal care products: . Sodium Laureth Sulfate is an ethoxylated compound When it's created, it's processed with ethylene oxide, a known carcinogen. Traces of ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane (another known carcinogen) can be found in the finished detergent. Cocamidopropyl betaine has is that its processing aids, amidoamine and 3-dimethylaminopropylamine, can remain in the product. These chemicals can cause contact dermatitis, eye irritation, and other allergic reactions. In fact, the rate of allergic reactions to these impurities is so high that the American Contact Dermatitis Society named cocamidopropyl betaine Allergen of the Year in 2004. propylene glycol - EPA (environmental protection agency) warns against skin contact and advises workers to wear protective gloves when handling to avoid skin contact. It can cause brain, liver and kidney abnormalities. Methylisothiazolinone is a known neurotoxin. In 2004, the European Scientific Committee on Cosmetic Products and Non-Food Products Intended for Consumers (SCCNFP) suggested that companies limit the maximum concentration to 0.01% (100 ppm). However, US companies are not required to follow this guideline. A study at the Pittsburgh School of Medicine concluded that "Prolonged exposure to low levels of MIT and related compounds may have damaging consequences to the developing nervous system." It is also a developmental toxin (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22245758 SO how can this be? WHO IS REPSONSIBLE for the safety of these products???

Under the act, though they do not approve cosmetic products There is really NO governing body regulating ANY of this…
- #14 The director of the FDA’s office of color and cosmetics was quoted saying “ Consumers believe if it is on the market it is safe for them, tis belief is sometimes wrong!!” So Really there is NOBODY assessing the safety of the 1000’s of chemicals we are using daily in all of our personal care products!! Back in the 1930’s scientists didn’t even know that products can go through the skin… But we now know that anything put on the skin goes directly in to your body.. EWG (environmental working group) has the proof…..

BUT…

This is when a company tries to make you believe their product is good for you and the environment. The global market for organic personal care products was valued at more than $7 billion in 2012 and is rising at astronomical rates. Everyone is trying to cash in on this organic trend… and it is we the consumers who are left with the wool pulled over our eyes. I have been researching labels and chemicals found in products for over 10 years now, and I now want to equip you guys to be able to read a label yourself and know whether or not that products is truly organic and natural and healthy for you!

- #18 Don’t fall for marketing claims… words like “organic” “ natural” “eco friendly” on a product really mean nothing at all. Don’t even look at this…these words mean nothing. the J.A.S.O.N. bottle above entices me with “no parabens, sls, or phthalates”
- #19 So turn right to the back of the label and go to the ingredient list… but beware, because many companies will try to “greenwash” synthetic ingredients to make them sound healthy. Substances used to synthesize these chemicals from natural sources: Ammonia, toxic herbicides, sulfuric acid, formaldehyde
- #20 The only way you can no absolutely FOR SURE what is in the product, is by seeing a 3rd party organic food seal of approval on the product. This is your guarantee that from agriculture to bottle....every step of the way in between, there was nothing dangerous used. Seeing these logos on the FINISHED PRODUCT ensures that these products are as safe as organic food. With all of the green washing going on, you really do have to become an ingredient detective when shopping if you are trying to aoid these dangerous chemicals.
