A short history about us

“Pait” from the Italian for hay, “paglia”, this was the nickname of the family when great grandad Mussi Gaetano decided it was time to stop farming and start building the first
rudimentary chests and beds for household use. His son, Mussi Gerunzio decided to start woodworking in a small workshop he had created in his house, starting a passion
that was rewarded also by none other than the king of Italy of the time Vittorio Emanuele the third on the 24th November 1924 with a “stella al merito del lavoro” (star for
working merit medal). On the 30th Settember 1907 Giovanni Mussi is born. At the end of the war, in 1946, after a short cooperation with an important furniture manufacturing
family in Lissone, he decides to open a small company specialised in wood cutting and inlaying. At the time the company's main efforts were in the production of furniture for
living/dining rooms, an important family meeting point in Italian family culture. In 1948 kitchens started being an important part of Italian houses as people started earning
more so Giovanni started producing his own collection which hugged modern tendencies that we call contemporary design nowadays. At the age of 43 due to a serious heart
disease he is forced to pass the reins of the company to his sons, Giancarlo and Mario, aged 17 and 16 that followed the technologically innovative direction that their father
had started moving the company in.Thanks to the growth of the company, the two brothers manage to overcome the financial difficulties the family was in due to their father's
ilness and have enough income to look after everyone, including their father, their mother Costanza and their two brothers Gerunzio and Roberto.Due to lack of space, at the
age of 12 Gerunzio decided to learn how to be an upholster and started working for a large company in Lissone specialized in the production of wardrobes, beds and sofas
and goes to evening classes at the Lissone institue of wood (which is still actively training today).In the mean time the kitchen business grows and builds more production
facilities and introducing new machinery to process laminated woods and veneered woods. At the age of 23 Gerunzio decides to open his own workshop, manufacturing for
world famous companies. Two years later his younger brother Roberto decides to work with him and the company presents it's first range in Milan at the Il salone del mobile
di milano (that would then become iSaloni) in 1972. Today Emanuela, Giovanni and Marta Mussi are at the head of the company, proposing that same mix of artisan taste
and innovation that define Mussi's top quality production, dedicated to a refined and well educated clientele.A very rich selection of fabrics, chairs and beds with not only
high comfort levels but also high technological content are part of MUSSI's DNA, a company with all the typical traits of what italian furniture is known and loved for.The soft
furnishings, strong point of the company and an expression of great technoligical and engineering capacity, have now been joined by a series of accessories.The furnishing
complements are essential to complete our vision of a harmonious interior design. Tables, coffee tables, consolles, bookshelves, and rugs that all have something in com-
mon, a strong character, never boring; a sofisticated research for materials and attention to their mixing: woods partially covering metal, crystals embelishing tables, mirrors
that create personal decorations with their reflections; a creativity that preceeds and indicates new fashions. A MUSSI sofa or bed, even if they are built for a precise functio-
nality from the moment o conception, are emotional creations and are very simple. A simplicity that is apparent, all new products are in reality the sinthesis of a sofisticated
study thay mixes technology and artisan workmanship, tradition and innovation, new materials and luxury finishes. Rennovating, going beyond what has already been done.
Working with style, confronting the unusual, with the knowledge of a tradition and a quality that make Mussi a company that is able to offer the market a complete range of
