Judy Baca is a prominent Chicano muralist from Eastern California whose works in the 1970s helped popularize the Chicano mural movement. Her large-scale murals often depict important historical events and figures in order to educate viewers and promote social justice causes. Notable works include "The Great Wall of Los Angeles", a 2,750 foot mural depicting the history of LA, and "Mi Abuela", one of the first Chicano murals in LA portraying a grandmother figure. Baca's stylized works use abstract and realistic elements to convey narratives and draw attention to injustices against immigrant workers and people of color.
This lesson is designed to assist students in a case study of 'Sherlock' season 1. It is particularly useful for the upcoming GCSE Media Studies exam in 2018. Included in this recourse is a presentation which introduces students to the codes and conventions of Sherlock, and looks into Propp's Character Theory, and Todorov's Narrative Theory. Also included is a worksheet to go along with the PowerPoint, so students can complete tasks as the presentation moves along. At the end of the worksheet there is a small feedback section so teachers can be assured of how much the students understand of this topic, and which particular sections they need to re-cover.

This document outlines various elements that are commonly seen in comedy film narratives, including different character types, settings, scenarios, and approaches to story structure. It discusses both the classical Hollywood three-act structure and comedian-led narratives that are loose collections of gags and quirks. As examples, it provides an overview of the narratives of the films Love Actually and Four Lions, noting how they both incorporate elements of gags while generally following a classic structure. It also lists typical comedy characters and prompts the reader to research different subgenres of comedy.

El storyboard ayuda a planificar las ideas del guionista y a determinar cómo se traducirán las escenas en imágenes. Su propósito es facilitar la visualización de la historia a través de imágenes en secuencia.
This document discusses the creation of a film, beginning with initial ideas, casting, and filming which encountered some problems. It also provides box office figures of $37,000,000 and $79,000,000.
This document discusses different types of film posters and what makes an effective poster. It argues that single image posters with a black background ("SIBB" posters) are most compelling. These posters draw attention with a striking single image and minimal distracting elements. They intrigue viewers about the film's content without revealing too much. The document also praises painted posters and taglines for giving films unique identity. In conclusion, the author believes a SIBB-style poster would best represent their group's film as it can be created without professional painting skills.

This poem describes a "dark time" where soldiers have invaded the land. Nature responds with "awful sorrow" and red flowers hang their heads. It is a time of "oppression, dark metal, and tears" rather than festivals and celebration. The faces of men are "strained and anxious". The poem ends with the image of an invading soldier, "the man of death", watching the speaker's love sleep and aiming at their dreams, seeking to destroy hope for the future. Through metaphor, irony, oxymoron and rhetorical questions, the poem conveys a mood of scorn, lamentation and sorrow for the suffering people and land having their freedom and dreams destroyed by oppressive invasion.

5. STYLE AND
REWARD
During the beginning of the 19th century,
social realism became the main focus of
Sorolla's art pieces, which was popular in
the art museums at the time. The new focus
of art would showcase the dramatic aspects
of disadvantages in social classes. For
this Sorolla would receive the Grand Prix
for the art piece named Sad Inheritance! in
1900.

POINT
Sorolla would experience different focal points while painting. He
became mainly focused and named as a Light sacred artist with most of

10. THE PAINTINGS OF SOROLLA IN
CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER
Presentation title 10
11. WHITE SLAVE
TRADE 1895
In this painting it is displaying 4 young
prostitutes asleep in a 3rd class railway
carriage under their celestina who is
keeping an eye on them.
- This painting forces a certain perspective
although the subjects are almost asleep,
they ignore the viewer but still in some way
is involved with the subjects and their lack
of attention.
-The look of exhaustion in the older
womans face says a lot about their long
travels and was ccaputered amazingly by
Sorolla.

12. SAD INHERITANCE!
1899
- In the painting it shows a group of
disabled children bathing naked, assisted by
a robed Brother of Saint John of God,
which is a figure of Christian charity.
- It is called inheritance since it is believed
these children are sick through their
parents STDs or alcoholism. Now it is
looked to be during the Polio epidemic.
- Now knowing the affects of the Polio
epidemic it is clear that these children
have gotten it.

13. TWO SISTERS,
VALENCIA 1905
- The painting demonstrates a girl looking
out towards the audience and is shielding
her eyes from the bright sun while holding
the hand of her younger sister. While also
showcasing the shading of the water
blending into the sand .
- This painting is looked at like a tender
moment captured between sisters at the
beach enjoying themselves and most
likely enjoying the freedom.
Presentation title 13
14. SWIMMERS,
JAVEA 1905
- Two children are swimming towards a
rock that’s in the top left corner. The main
attraction on the canvas is the way the light
is able to reflect moving water and outlines
the children's bodies.
- This painting might be up to ones
interpretation but to me I imagine the
boys climbing onto the rock to jump
back down into the water and are
enjoying summer fun. It is truly
enjoyable to look at and imagine the
fun.

15. WOUNDED FOOT
1905
- There are two children on the beach as it
demonstrates a child having an injured foot
while the other one is observing.
- I believe this one is the darker painting
to show that a child was wounded and is
in pain which can be shown in the
darkness of color. It is truly amazing
how Sorolla is able to great such
amazing moments quickly.

16. MY WIFE AND
MY DAUGHTERS IN
THE GARDEN1910
- Has 3 women sitting on a bench with a
dog on the floor sleeping. Two are captured
facing the direction of view while the one
in the middle appears faceless and they are
all in bright colored gowns.
- This painting is about Sorolla's family
and the way he paints them shows the
true admiration he has towards his
family. With the color palette he is able
to highlight the beauty of the painting.
Presentation title 16
17. FINAL PAINTING
1920
- In this unfinished painting there is a
woman sitting in a chair looking into the
distance to the left side. There is mostly
yellow in this painting and remains
unfinished.
- The fact he had a stroke and this became
his last painting is mind blowing but he
was able to lave an amazing unfinished
piece of art that still represents him very
well.
