The Information Standard is an accreditation scheme managed by NHS England that certifies organizations that produce clear and evidence-based health information. It was developed in 2009 to address low-quality health information found online and enable the public to identify trustworthy sources. While the scheme has helped improve health information quality, NHS England plans to more closely link it with initiatives on shared decision-making, accessible information, and health literacy. The standards for organizations will also be reviewed but the accreditation will remain free to obtain.
