REVIEW WHEN YOU CAN READ IT ONLINE STRAIGHT AWAY? THIS IS THE PROBLEM

buying the magazine as it’s interactive and they
can watch videos and listen to audio etc.
The website has a feature that allows you to have a
sneak preview of that weeks issue and read parts of
interviews and reviews in that issue. This is a way of
marketing for the company so people will want to read
the full contents, therefore will purchase the issue.

• Possibly hurts the odds of the physical NME
getting recognition and consequently becoming
popular.

• Doesn’t sound professional and there could be
scepticism.

8. OVERALL I FEEL THAT TECHNOLOGY HAS LEFT A SCARING IMPACT ON THE MAGAZINE
INDUSTRY BOTH NEGATIVELY AND POSITIVELY. FIRSTLY I FEEL THAT THE FACT NEARLY
EVERY MAGAZINE CAN NOW BE READ ONLINE (WEBZINES) IS A GREAT TECHNOLOGICAL
ADVANCE AND AS WELL AS BENEFITTING THE COMPANIES OF MAGAZINES THAT
PREVIOUSLY HAS LOWER READERSHIP STATISTICS (NME), IT ADVERTISES AND MARKETS
THE MAGAZINES, THEREFORE HELPING TO ENCOURAGE READERSHIP OF THE PHYSICAL
PUBLICATION. HOWEVER, A NEGATIVE ELEMENT IS THAT EVENTUALLY I THINK THAT
PHYSICAL MAGAZINES WILL NO LONGER BE AVAILABLE WHICH IS BAD FOR PEOPLE LIKE
ME WHO LIKE TO READ THE PHYSICAL COPY AS A LEISURE ACTIVITY AND TO KEEP IT AS
MEMORABILIA ETC.
