Miguel de Cervantes was a Spanish soldier and writer born in 1547 near Madrid. He fought in the Battle of Lepanto and was captured by Turks, spending five years imprisoned. His most famous work, Don Quixote, was published in 1605 and is considered one of the greatest works of fiction ever written. The Illustrious Kitchen-Maid by Cervantes tells the story of two young men of noble birth, Carriazo and Avendano, who decide to embark on an adventurous life. At an inn in Toledo, Avendano falls in love with Costanza, a maid, causing the two young men to decide to stay there. They eventually discover something about

2. AUTHOR
 The son of a deaf surgeon, Miguel de Cervantes was born
near Madrid in 1547. He became a soldier in 1570 and was
badly wounded in the Battle of Lepanto. Captured by the
Turks in 1575, de Cervantes spent five years in prison. He
was freed in 1580 and returned home. De Cervantes finally
achieved literary success in his later years, publishing the
first part of Don Quixote in 1605. He died in 1616.

6. PLOT
 The plot of the play is about two young men of good family,
Carriazo and Avendano, who decide to embark on the
picaresque life.In an inn Toledo, Avendaño falls in love with
Constanza, a mop or a maid, which will make the two young
men decide to stop their journey there.
 At the end they will discover something about Costanza's
birth that will make her love possible.
