Golf is believed to have originated on the coast of Scotland in the 12th or 15th century, where early golfers would hit rocks into holes in the ground. Later, golfers used wooden clubs to hit leather balls stuffed with goose feathers. Over time, golf evolved into a serious sport played on courses, and clubs and balls improved, moving from wood to metal to rubber and now modern balls with pressurized cores and urethane layers.
