 Located in Eden Valley, Minnesota, A maze'n Farmyard provides
families with a unique adventure and entertainment experience.
The amusement park features a huge range of attractions and
activities, including a giant slide, a permanent maze, and a barn.
A maze'n Farmyard also maintains a bounce barn complete with
five inflatable bouncers for kids.
As with many inventions, inflatable bounce houses were created
by accident. John Scurlock is credited for the invention of the
bounce house in 1959 after he invented an inflatable cover for
tennis courts. Some of Scurlock’s employees started jumping on
top of the inflatable cover, and found it was great fun. This gave
Scurlock the idea for what would become the inflatable bounce
house.

3. Bounce Houses
 At first, Scurlock went about creating an inflatable floor that
people could jump on. He started the company Space Walks in
New Orleans and also developed the Space Pillow, which was an
inflatable mattress. By the late 1960s, walls were added to the
inflatable mattress to increase safety and communities began
calling the devices “moonwalks.” Soon after, roofs were also
added to further improve safety.
In 1968, Scurlock’s wife established an inflatable rental company
and, eight years later, this was followed by a custom production
company. Still, the popularity of bounce houses did not start
soaring until Scurlock’s son opened the first indoor fun center in
the 1980s. Since then, bounce houses have become one of the
most rented party items for children's parties.
