In The Hawaii First Circuit Court -- Civil No. 15-1-1756-09 [VLC]
Dear Ms. Morgan and Mr. Bickerton,
Often in researching a case going back to the beginning reveals events that evidence a
trend exhibited in the entire process. The question of conduct unbecoming was raised by
former Governor George Ariyoshi on November 9, 2011, Leave no stone unturned before
passing rail's point of no return.1
Ms. Abigail Kawananakoa’s lawsuit comes at a time where, in my opinion, that by
expenditure and commitment of funds, the Rail Project is beyond the point of no return.
Former Governor Ben Cayetano and Cliff Slater, Esq. tried vigilantly and valiantly to do
the right thing. They were shunned and rejected by the Courts. The underlying and
unpublicized reasons being that The Rail Project had gathered sufficient momentum that
stopping the project would create rippling financial mayhem that Hawaii’s economy would
slide into another recession.

The lingering scars and wounds that beset the public, the City & County of Honolulu, the State of Hawaii and the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transit need to be put behind us. Let there be a period of healing, self-reflection, personal improvement and a return to doing what is right, not because the faults and failings are now being placed on public display, but because we are all human, imperfect, by God’s will should be forgiven and allowed to correct our weaknesses. Faith is seeing the invisible, believing in people and their willingness and dedication, their strengths, their ability to accomplish what is seemingly impossible, and the reward for empowerment and trust.
