2.  The 1st Experimental General
High School of Thessaloniki
“Manolis Andronikos” offers
general education to 162
students (54 in each grade,
separated in 2), aged between
16 and 18 years old.
 In the 3rd grade, it mostly
prepares them for the university
entrance exams.

3.  Students are selected by
lottery, except for the period
2013-2015 when they were
selected through exams.
 It is one of 15 Experimental High
Schools in Greece, that operate
under a special legal regime,
offering clubs of interests and other
educational opportunities to its
students as well as to students of a
wider region.

4.  The teaching process is
facilitated by the
following:
 Physics lab
 Computer lab
 Library
 Interactive whiteboards
 Laptops
 Projectors
 Multipurpose hall etc

5.  The school is located in Touba region, an area bordering the center
of Thessaloniki but students come from many different districts to it.
 The school employs 20 teachers, that have been selected through an
evaluation process.

6.  The school was founded in 1991 as
Experimental High School of
Thessaloniki.
 In 2004, it was named after Manolis
Andronikos, the famous
archaeologist, who, among other
important archaeological
discoveries, in 1977 excavated the
tomb of Philip II, father of Alexander
the Great, in Vergina, the ancient
Aiges, an area about 75 km far away
from Thessaloniki.

8.  For the time being, many
activities are taking place
in our school.
 In addition to remedial
teaching, which takes place
after normal working hours
(that means after 8.10 p.m.
– 2.10 a.m.), the school
offers many creative
activities.

10.  These clubs around the
end of the school year
present their work in
special for this purpose
events (for instance,
a music concert or a theatrical show

11.  Besides the clubs, in
school run certain cultural
and environmental
programs, for example a
cultural program that aims
to theoretical as well as
practical knowledge about
documentary and the
production of a short
documentary movie.

12.  Remarkable is the
voluntary and
charitable action that
our school takes.
 Through a Volunteers’
Club or a volunteers’
project the students
who participate make
the difference…
Our group of volunteers,
“ Students in action”,
preparing packages
with necessities
for the refugees in Eidomeni,
the refugees check-point
at the Greece- FYROM borders…

13. In addition, the school
conducts student
competitions, open to
students from all over
Greece:
 Creative Writing Contest
 Logic and Mathematic
Contest (LogiGame)
 Modern Greek Language
Contest (LexiGame)
 Social Sciences Contest
("THINK.ing SO.cially")

15.  The school also
encourages and
prepares its students in
order to take part in
other – national or
regional- competitions
or conferences.

16.  This year our school
organizes the 2nd
Student Theological
Conference
with participants from
all over Greece.

17. Our students are
always glad to
participate in sport
activities organized
either by our school or
by another institution.

18.  Last but not least, our
school participates in the
Erasmus+ KA2 program
“European School
Partnership For
Sustainability”,
 that comes to end in the
summer of 2016, leaving
excellent memories and
impressions to students
as well as to teachers
who worked on it...
