The Great Palace Mosaic Museum houses mosaics used to decorate the pavement of an outdoor courtyard in the Great Palace of Constantinople, dating from the 6th century reign of the Byzantine emperor Justinian I. The mosaics were part of an enclosed courtyard surrounded by columns and would have decorated the floor.
