The de Young Museum in San Francisco was visited for its location and impressive impressionist collection. Orion and his father took bicycles to the museum, which Orion had become adept at riding safely. They explored the permanent collection after the line was too long to see Gainsborough's "The Blue Boy". Orion made a new friend from the Oceanic art and found another piece reminding him of Yosemite. Though tired, he still had energy for the playground after the museum.

1. The de Young Museum in San Francisco was the museum of choice because of its location in Golden Gate Park.

2. It was also showing an amazing collectionof impressionist work from Paris..

3. Orion and I took the eco-friendly mode of transportation,which also guaranteed some fun after the museum visit.

4. Orion has become a very conscientious bicyclist.

5. First the adjustments, making sure it doesn’t fallover…

6. ….then carefully locking it up (he’d just learnedthe combination).

7. ..and he’s off, wearing his special protection to guardagainst art injuries!

8. My goal was to pose him in front of this painting, Gainsborough’s “The Blue Boy” but the lines were too long.

9. Not wanting to kill his interest by waiting in a long line for half an hour, we settled for the permanent collection.

10. We quickly made a new friend, courtesy of de Young’s remarkable collection of Oceanic art.

11. He found a special object for contemplation, remarking that itreminded him of Yosemite.

13. The de Young also has a fine collection of art from centraland west Africa, and this guy catches Orion’s eye.

19. No! He had plenty of energy for playing at the nearby playground...
