zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...Alex Pruden
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.

Digital Banking in the Cloud: How Citizens Bank Unlocked Their MainframePrecisely
Inconsistent user experience and siloed data, high costs, and changing customer expectations – Citizens Bank was experiencing these challenges while it was attempting to deliver a superior digital banking experience for its clients. Its core banking applications run on the mainframe and Citizens was using legacy utilities to get the critical mainframe data to feed customer-facing channels, like call centers, web, and mobile. Ultimately, this led to higher operating costs (MIPS), delayed response times, and longer time to market.
Ever-changing customer expectations demand more modern digital experiences, and the bank needed to find a solution that could provide real-time data to its customer channels with low latency and operating costs. Join this session to learn how Citizens is leveraging Precisely to replicate mainframe data to its customer channels and deliver on their “modern digital bank” experiences.

6. APPLICATIONS: Situate the product and the benefits to the intended
market.
The product is universal and distinguished from others by not being an oil
additive since it is the by product in the oil refinery process.
The main applications are to eliminate GHG and improve oil quality (octane and
cetane value- added) by consuming all inorganic gases (CO, CO2, SO2, NO2,
etc.) and producing CH4, automatically.
7. POTENTIAL MARKET: State any new features of these applications and the
renewal of any existing ones.
We have not yet conducted a potential market analysis. Perhaps our dealers may
help us with this task. On the global warming crisis, (as part of CO2 emission
from fuel), we believe that it will greatly benefit the entire world.
8. MARKETING CONTEXT: When the proposed system is ideally adapted and
ready for marketing.
The market date of this product is uncertain since this is the first time being made
public.
We anticipate the invention will be highly beneficial since the product has dual
functions, i.e. the CO2 reduction in oil, as well as, the mitigation of CO2 emissions
into the atmosphere which is the major component of the GHG global warming
crisis.
9. EXPLOITATION: Technology Transfer or Exclusive Exploitation License or
Business Alliance.
These technologies are almost 99% reproducible, if the directions are strictly
followed. The technology transfer is possible world-wide.
Regarding our exclusive exploitation license, we intend to make further decisions
regarding this once we reach a negotiation.
For a business alliance, we still need more information on the subject matter. We
appreciate any suggestions you might have regarding this and we will carefully
consider each and every suggestion.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Q: Please explain what are the economic benefits when these sectors use the
product? What changes occur that either enables companies to save money, or
make money?
A : The economic impact is great and hopefully our planets climatic changes (if IPCC
agree) will be improved within 5 years
1. Oil Refinery:
1) CDM -657 crude oil refineries around the world are expected to gain benefit
from carbon credit (if any) under UNFCCC, i.e. 2.16 kg / l and 2.67kg / l of
CO2 from diesel and benzene, respectively.
2) CSR- What will be happen when something bad is changed into something
good.
3) Save our planet Earth! World oil consumption stands at about 85 million
barrels per day.
This would emit approximately 28 million tons of diesel C02 or 35 million tons of
benzene CO2, per day. Yearly, this amount is astronomical as the atmosphere
already contains over 3,000 giga tons of gas waste.
2. Automobile manufacturers:
1) Cost saving- There is no proposed research and developement on engine
combustion for all US, EU, Japan, etc. automobile manufactures. There is no
need for a target-set on EU-IV or other car models in 2012 since fuel CO2
emission from these 2 billion cars around the world would be reduced to near
zero levels.
2) New strategic approach –There would be an increased return on sale.

3. Energy Power Plants
1) CDM- A recent report* stated about 700 tons of CO2 per minute were being
emitted from electric coal power plants. However, fossil fuel power plants
also produced more than 720 kg / KWh of C02 per minute.
2) CSR-Electricity cost will be reduced by roughly over 30%. No more street
demonstrations, no need to spend enormous amounts to build nuclear
power plants etc.
4. Cement Industries
1) CDM-Most of these industries use fossil fuel energy sources.
2) CSR-We have a technology for improving cement quality by a cohesive
method, and eliminating gas from both cement and coal. That would then
eliminate dust or sulphur particles in the environment causing acid rain.
This method is CO2 emission free. The benefits have far reaching potential
world-wide.
5. Bio-fuel industries
1) Quality improvement- Bio products improve the quality of bio-fuel. We have
certified test results from PTT verifying this.
2) CSR-We are now conducting a small project using bio-fuel. We do not
endorse the industries use of esterification in processing bio-fuel since we
consider KOH or NaOH as chemical pollution. About 10 % of the residue
severely affects the earth during each and every bio-fuel production.
6. Natural Gas Industries
We also have done research in this field.

Q: Please give an explanation on how the CH4 would be commercially produced?
A: Results from our product tests indicated (without any additive) that both
cetane (from B5)and octane (from gasohol 91) were increased about 8.7% and
1%, respectively. This resulted from co-existing and microbial and symbiotic
activities. Although, the results are small, statistically, but CH4 value-added is
another benefit of commercial production.
Q: What does ‘’automatic life cycle’’ mean in this context?
A: I would define ‘’automatic life cycle’’ as the process of ‘’spontaneous
degeneration (of CO2) and regeneration (of CH4) of all living things on earth’’
However, it is definitely not synthetic life (GMO) that consumed CO2 then
excreted CH4 as some scientists are presently researching.
Q: To what ‘’oil product’’ or at what stage of the ‘’oil refinery process’’ is the powder
compound of microbes added?
A: We can add the bio-product to any fuel oil, fossil or bio-fuel, then filter it by an
oil filtering machine. Our result showed that there were both water and sediment
in the oil sample at < 0.005%. According to our yet to implemented plan, the bio-
product will be added either before (in crude oil) or after distillation (in oil
product). This will depend upon what will best suit the oil refinery process.
Q: What are the commercial benefits to an oil company being able to produce CH4
by the automatic life cycle?
A: The production of CH4 is not our main objective since we are aiming at the
elimination of inorganic fuel gas (CO, CO2, SO2, NO2) after combustion. While
the microbes can, as well, be utilized as hydrocarbon, or as organic energy
sources before combustion. Therefore, we consider CH4 as a fringe benefit to
the oil company. The oil company would be free to sell CH4 if they choose.
Q: How and why is it that your identified microbes are different from technologies
used in the existing bio-mass industries for the production of ethanol from corn?
A: (How): It is a different group of microbes.
A: (Why): They have different path ways.

Q: What are your plans to protect the invention?
Q1: Do you plan to apply for Patent Protection?
A1: Yes, I do and would appreciate any assistance you might be able to offer.
Q2: Do you have money available for the Patent Protection Process?
A2: No, and I have no idea what the costs might be, but we envision the costs
will be high. Any advice on what procedural steps need to be taken is gratefully
appreciated.
Q: We need to understand what volume of CH4 is released in the creation of the
2kg reduction of CO2 per liter of oil treated.
A: 1) Based on our data, I conclude that the “volume of CH4” which we considered
as cetane and octane added (without ETBE / MTBE /etc), is the percentages
increased from the set limit (e.g. 47 vs 51.12=8.76% and 91 vs 91.1=1% or 80
vs 81.4=1.01%).
2) From IPCC fossil oil emission data, I averaged the emission from diesel 2.16
kg/l and from gasoline 2,67 kg/l into 2kgCO2/l . Therefore, from our data, 1 liter
of oil, the CO2emitted = 2kg and produced CH4 = 8.76% and 1% for diesel and
gasoline, respectively.
Q: Is our understanding correct that 1 gram of powder product costs 1 cent to
produce and treats 1 liter of oil to produce the 2kg CO2 reduction?
A: 1) Yes, that is correct in term of CDM / carbon trading. Actually, we prefer it to
be offered free of charge. Do you agree to make that possible?
2) This is an incredibly low price for healing our sick world.
Q: Please tell us more about the methods you mentioned to reduce GHGs in natural
gas, sulphides in coal, and increase the cohesiveness of cement.
A: 1) Regarding petrol, I used a “Biological Method” (without any chemical
synthetics or other methods) in reducing GHGs in natural gas, in clean coal
technology, and in all fuel energy consumption manufactures. More precisely,
my main methodology is “Microbial Biotechnology”. Details will be elaborated on
later.
2) I believe in the advantages of bio-technology, so I decided to set 3 basic
principles that it is pollution free, cost-effective, and accessible to all.

Q: Is it your idea to produce the powder compound at the B-NIRC and export it to
customers or is the B-NIRC only for production development?
A: Yes, it is possible in both cases. In the first case, if we sell our license
exclusively, we will continue to serve as the consultant team for production.
While in the second case, we will have to export our bio- product. It depends
upon the license agreement which will be established later. However, B-NIRC
will assist in every way possible for both cases to be successful.
Q: Is there some other method of supply needed?
A: Yes, for example, an B-NIRC technician will hand-carry the “starter culture” to
the customers for extension, then the product will be produced locally. Each step
must be done under our close supervision.
