The giant panda is a rare bear native to central-western and southwestern China. It is easily recognized by its large, distinctive black patches over its eyes, ears, and legs, as well as around its mouth. Pandas feed almost exclusively on bamboo, but also eat small amounts of fish, eggs, honey, and other plant shoots and roots.
