Women continue to be vastly underrepresented in the global technology workforce, which presents both societal and workforce challenges. Many barriers still need to be addressed according to a 2017 ISACA study, including a lack of female mentors and role models, persistent gender bias and unequal pay. The study found the top barriers women face are a lack of mentors, female role models in the field, gender bias at work, unequal growth opportunities and unequal pay compared to men.
