An examination of human capital in Aviation Services

 Human capital is the sum total of a population's health,
skills, knowledge, experience, and habits. (World
Bank)
 Human capital is critical because so many smaller firms
have employees who perform cross-functional duties.
(Kim, Jim Yong)
 Human capital is the engine of innovation;
the engine innovates and in turn is the engine
of long term growth (Paul Romer)
 Firms can benefit from training existing staff. It is less
expensive than to hire additional staff or more qualified
candidates. (Kim, Jim Yong )
 On average; each additional year of education increases
a person's income by about ten (10) percent.
 Human resource is the people that staff and
operate an organization, as contrasted with
the financial and material resources of an
organization. (William R. Tracey)
 It plays an essential role in developing a company's
strategy. (Kim, Jim Yong)
 It deals with employee-centered activities of an
organization. (Kim, Jim Yong)
 Air Traffic Controllers, Metrological Officers,
Aeronautical Officers and Aviation Security
Officers.
 There is zero margin of error.
 One mistake can cause the loss of life and
property
 Staff must be trained and certified to perform
unsupervised duties.
 The government bear the cost of training.
 Officers are now effective and efficient.
 workers are able to perform complex tasks .
 Adapt rapidly to their changing environment
and the evolving needs of the production
system.
 Air Traffic Controllers:
 communicate with air users.
 give the pilots instructions as to the available
path that can be taken in the air space
 give weather conditions of the surroundings.
 give information to pilots on route and
destination.
 Metrological Officers
 provide hourly weather forecast to the general
public and other interested parties.
 Aeronautical Officers
 serve notices to airmen, file flight plans for in
and out bound flight
 collect fees from air operators for services
offered in navigation, landing and parking.
 Aviation Security Officers
 responsible for the safety and security of all
persons who enters the compound or aviation
facility from any act or attempted act against civil
aviation.
