This talk aims to explain and compare each of the available open source options. WebKit is a web rendering engine with a generic part (WebCore, JSEngine), and ports for specific platforms that implement bits like rendering, networking or multimedia. GTK+, EFL and Wayland ports are available. Blink is fork of WebKit from which several projects have evolved such as Chromium, Crosswalk, and CEF. During the presentation, Silvia will explain and compare each them and provide more details of WebKit for Wayland which has several advantages for the IVI system.

By Philippe Normand. This lightning talk will showcase a new GStreamer plugin that allows applications to overlay HTML pages on top of video content. This plugin also allows to capture and interact with an HTML page in a live GStreamer pipeline, for recording purposes for instance. Overlaying content on top of live video is common practice in the broadcasting industry nowadays. What if you could use HTML and Javascript for your overlay implementations? This would be possible with GStreamer and WebKit's WPE port combined in a GStreamer plugin. GstWPE receives EGLImages from WPE and shares them as GstMemory objects attached to buffers injected into the pipeline. This approach enables applications to perform overlaying directly in the GPU using shaders. Alternatively the EGLImages can be downloaded to the CPU main memory using the GStreamer gldownload element and processed there. GStreamer is an extremely powerful and versatile framework for creating streaming media applications. WPE WebKit allows embedders to create simple and performant systems based on Web platform technologies. This talk will describe the collaboration between CERN and Igalia around the White Rabbit project, the value of the Open Source approach and how it crystallizes in upstream contributions (software and hardware). Along this talk we will describe in detail how White Rabbit and Open Source projects are able to raise the quality of the software used, accelerating innovation and gaining addi- tional contributors. In the technical arena, we will describe the development of Linux drivers and virtual hardware (QEMU/KVM) for the FMC/TDC board designed in CERN. This approach was showcased in LinuxCon 2012, one of the most relevant conferences in the industry. We will comment about the importance of promoting this kind of technology in industry events. The talk will finish with a live demo showing how virtual hardware (hardware mimick- ing real hardware designed by CERN for WhiteRabbit) is used to develop, test and debug control drivers using a generic software stack.

Building Microservices with Micronaut: A Full-Stack JVM-Based Framework

Micronaut, introduced in early 2018 by Object Computing, is a full-stack JVM-based framework for creating microservices-based, cloud native, and serverless applications that can be written in Java, Groovy, or Kotlin. This new framework provides a simple compile-time, aspect-oriented programming API that does not use reflection. Micronaut supports GraalVM-native images and offers compile-time support for Swagger, validation, and mapping annotations. With its own nonblocking web server built on top of Netty, reactive clients can be built declaratively and are implemented at compile time. This session provides an overview of Micronaut, followed by a live demonstration of an application with microservices written in Java, Groovy, and Kotlin, respectively.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software Fuzzing

Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process. In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds. - These are slides of the talk given at IEEE International Conference on Software Testing Verification and Validation Workshop, ICSTW 2022.

This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
