Here’s a few simple steps to help balance your brain
and stop the cycle of emotional eating.
Now pay close attention to this because if you do,
you’re going to be able to crush the cycle!
I want you to observe your food behavior and
actions as if you were an outsider.
• Detach yourself from your actions.
• Now the reason why you’re going to do this is to
take the emotion out of what is actually
happening so you’ll be able to look at your
behaviors and actions differently.
20. • You’re going to study these actions and
behaviors in a detached way.
• Note: So to get the best results from this
process, you’re going to be compassionate to
yourself . This is not the time to judge yourself
or beat yourself up for your these actions and
behaviors you’re observing.
21. Step 2
Next, I want you to write down the feelings and
emotions that are associated with the food
behaviors and actions that you’ve observed.
• This is so you can tune into yourself and later
learn to take ownership.
• I want you to note what feelings and emotions
were present during any food related action or
behavior that has occurred.
• I want you to ask yourself: What were your
emotional needs at time I observed myself doing
XYZ? What was really going on internally?
22. Hint: When you’ve identified some emotional
triggers, you can start to identify your food
related actions and behaviors before they
occur. And when the emotion comes up
again, you’ll be armed and can begin to
control your food behavior and actions.
23. • Example: The phone rings, and it’s your boss.
You have been called in to work on your day off.
You are irritated, disappointed and stressed out
because you had things planned that you wanted
to do. Before you know it, you’ve eaten 2 cookies
and you’re headed for the chocolate.
• Trigger: phone call changing your plans
• Emotion: stress, anger, disappointment
• Action/behavior: you unconsciously went for the
junk food
24. Step 3
And finally, I’m going to share 3 rarely taught ways to
stabilize your emotions and stress without food. This
is very important in your outcome.
3 emotional stabilizers:
• Look at a photo album. This give you happy
memories and brings joy into your life.
• Go outside; go for a 5 minute brisk walk, or stretch
your arms upward and shout “I feel good” several
times.
• Turn on your favorite song and sing it with passion or
turn up the volume and dance like crazy!
These are all great substitutes for emotional eating.

and you’re emotions are taking over and you
