chefs buying locally sourced foods are threefold, lowers the use of carbon emissions of produce
transportation, availability to fresher, more flavourful foods in the market, and supports local

are famous for keeping their prices so low. This is one reason why they are able to maintain a grip
on the consumers of an area. They accomplish this by keeping the cost to produce and transport the

"an individual family could save $589 a year on groceries by shopping at a supercenter. Overall,

local food movement is and why they should participate in this growing social trend.
INTRODUCTION: Have you ever been looking around the grocery store and wondered, where did

grapes from Chile, mangoes from Mexico, tomatoes from Holland, and bananas from Central
America. It's astonishing to think that most of our food does not come from California even though
there are approximately 76,400 farms in California. Even more so, according to National
Agricultural Statistic Service, California accounts for 2/3 of the United State's fruit and nut
production. Also, 1/3 of the United States vegetable production originates in California. Lastly,

Imagining a community in 2020 where the majority of the population were Locavores is quite
difficult due to the fact that modern society has expanded and is continuing to grow all the time.
Locavores are people who only eat food within a 100 mile radius.(source g) The idea of being a

"farm to table" is a phrase referring to food made with locally sourced ingredients. Our society is in
a rapid state of technological innovation, which means that we often compromise health and

In today's economy, consumers are more inclined to shop at their local big box retailer where they
can get plenty of selection at low prices instead of limited products and market rates. Being a mid–
sized local grocery has its challenges when competing with these national chains, and Company Q is
no different. Locally owned and operated businesses are an essential part of today's society. Too
often companies stress the quantity of profits over the quality of products. Not only do these kinds
of choices belay negative social responsibility, this type of attitude can damage a growing business's

from a mega chain, whose items are usually from outside of the U.S., verses buying from a local

After carefully reading the case studies, I concluded that Chief Davis' executive style is in line with
The Statesman and Chief Fortier's executive style is in line with The Administrator. The Statesman
style stresses leadership and Chief Davis had a strong subordinate leadership in which he allowed
their thoughts and ideas to be put into place (Cordner, 2016). The Statesman focuses on the
department's interests by being in constant contact with the community as well as the government

Casino legislation impacts the local and state economy. How it affects the economy fluctuates
depending on surrounding circumstances. These circumstances include location and who owns the
casino. A local casino will result in changes in Government revenue, public services, and
surrounding businesses. Casinos bring a local economy a new tax source and new jobs but it is
crucial to look further to see if casinos boost the local economy. In one article the writers state the
benefits of the new casino including new jobs and investment. Felsentein, Littlepage, & Klacik
(2000) then explain that many casino jobs however require some specific training. This means many
employees commute to work. Also some of local casino employees leave previous jobs in

going on in their community, on a governmental stance. Local government, moreover, establishes
and enforce local laws. Local government, furthermore, is responsible for establishing and
delivering a range of quality to their community. Local government sets the direction in which they
want to see their region going in. Local government uses a long–term plan in which they set:
financial plans, council plans, municipal strategic statement, and other strategic tactics. With the use
of the tactics, they determine how they want their region to progress. People should be concerned
about their local government because it allows them to have a say in what happens in their
community, and it makes local laws which directly affect the people in their region.
