MoViE is an Internet-based video service that allows users to record video clips using mobile phones, upload them to the MoViE server, and create video stories by combining clips from themselves and collaborators. Users can view media lists from their phones or the MoViE server. The document provides examples of how MoViE could be used for student field trip diaries, documenting a city, and raising awareness about recycling. It also describes an upcoming Boundless Classroom project using MoViE to enable cross-cultural and collaborative learning between schools in multiple countries.
The document summarizes four generations: the Silent Generation born 1925-1942 who lived through the Great Depression and World War II and valued discipline and hard work; the Baby Boomers born 1945-1964 who experienced major social changes in the 1960s like the Vietnam War, women's rights movement, and Woodstock; Generation X born 1961-1981 who saw increased divorce and technology issues and valued pragmatism; and Generation Y born 1977-2003 who grew up with new technologies and a globalized world and are highly motivated and comfortable with change.
Web access varies considerably among schools, regions, countries and it seems more plausible to relish the idea of a model combining a physical and a virtual teaching- studying- learning plan allowing both teachers and students to work within a flexible framework that emancipates them from spatial and temporal limitations. This again requires teachers to reconsider issues of representation and, consequently, of possible ways to exploit the extended forms of textuality offered by the networking tools.
The document discusses competences and key competences in European education. It notes the variety of terminology used to describe competences and the different meanings attributed to terms like competence, competency, and skill. It summarizes frameworks established by the Council of Europe and European Commission that define political, social, and other competences. While these frameworks aim to establish a joint education space in Europe, the document notes there is still varying interpretation and implementation of competences between and within countries. It argues more work needs to be done to clearly define competences, learning outcomes, and assessment policies. The last section focuses on digital competence and social competence, exploring concepts like network literacy and virtual learning communities.

The document summarizes insights from a pilot project on international mobile digital storytelling among students in 3 countries. It found that the project expanded students' horizons by allowing them to communicate and share experiences with peers in other countries. Students explored their own schools and communities through digital stories, while also learning about other cultures. The project created a collaborative space where students' expressions brought new aspects of themselves to the classroom and disrupted traditional pedagogy. Overall, the human element of connecting students internationally was more important than the technological tools.

Toward a Radically Critical Media Education : A case on Wiki pedagogical Inte...Marianna Vivitsou
This document summarizes a presentation on integrating wikis for pedagogical purposes in Greece. It discusses how students used a wiki site for both social networking and collaborative learning. A study was conducted with 160 students across 3 schools who actively participated on the wiki. The wiki allowed for combination of collaboration through content creation and socializing by making personal pages. Student perspectives shifted from seeing school as solely for skill development to also being a space for collaboration, personality growth, and idea exchange. The wiki facilitated dialogue, peer learning, and student initiative. The presentation argues for connective technologies to enable educational change toward a future school that blends virtuality and actuality and reconceives student-teacher roles.
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive functioning. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help protect against mental illness and improve symptoms.

In a tight labour market, job-seekers gain bargaining power and leverage it into greater job quality—at least, that’s the conventional wisdom.
Michael, LMIC Economist, presented findings that reveal a weakened relationship between labour market tightness and job quality indicators following the pandemic. Labour market tightness coincided with growth in real wages for only a portion of workers: those in low-wage jobs requiring little education. Several factors—including labour market composition, worker and employer behaviour, and labour market practices—have contributed to the absence of worker benefits. These will be investigated further in future work.

"Does Foreign Direct Investment Negatively Affect Preservation of Culture in the Global South? Case Studies in Thailand and Cambodia."
Do elements of globalization, such as Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), negatively affect the ability of countries in the Global South to preserve their culture? This research aims to answer this question by employing a cross-sectional comparative case study analysis utilizing methods of difference. Thailand and Cambodia are compared as they are in the same region and have a similar culture. The metric of difference between Thailand and Cambodia is their ability to preserve their culture. This ability is operationalized by their respective attitudes towards FDI; Thailand imposes stringent regulations and limitations on FDI while Cambodia does not hesitate to accept most FDI and imposes fewer limitations. The evidence from this study suggests that FDI from globally influential countries with high gross domestic products (GDPs) (e.g. China, U.S.) challenges the ability of countries with lower GDPs (e.g. Cambodia) to protect their culture. Furthermore, the ability, or lack thereof, of the receiving countries to protect their culture is amplified by the existence and implementation of restrictive FDI policies imposed by their governments.
My study abroad in Bali, Indonesia, inspired this research topic as I noticed how globalization is changing the culture of its people. I learned their language and way of life which helped me understand the beauty and importance of cultural preservation. I believe we could all benefit from learning new perspectives as they could help us ideate solutions to contemporary issues and empathize with others.

OJP data from firms like Vicinity Jobs have emerged as a complement to traditional sources of labour demand data, such as the Job Vacancy and Wages Survey (JVWS). Ibrahim Abuallail, PhD Candidate, University of Ottawa, presented research relating to bias in OJPs and a proposed approach to effectively adjust OJP data to complement existing official data (such as from the JVWS) and improve the measurement of labour demand.
