The fox tells the little prince that if he tames it, their lives will be unique to each other and illuminated. The fox says the little prince's hair is the color of gold, and when it is tamed it will think of the prince when it sees the golden wheat fields. The little prince tames the fox. When it is time for the prince to leave, the fox admits it will cry, but says taming it was good because it will be reminded of the prince by the color of the wheat fields.
