Biblical and historical account of the birth of Jesus Christ the Son of God. Includes social issues and consequences of decisions for that time in history.
Very short study on the life of John the Baptist as a preparatory figure for the greater work of Christ. This work was submitted for partial fulfillment of a New Testament course that I took from Liberty University in 2012.
The Parable of the Good Samaritan is a wonderful story that Jesus tells to illustrate how we have to love our neighbors as ourselves. It is about a generous person who was ready to provide help to a stranger in distress without hesitation. We should never ignore people when they are in need and assist them no matter who or what they are. How you talk to people about Jesus depends on what they already know.
There are four great facts that must be communicated. He was completely human. He was more than a great teacher. He overcame death. Your spiritual encounter with Him today.
Long ago, about 2000 years, when King Herod ruled Judea (now part of Israel), God sent the angel Gabriel to a young woman who lived in the northern town of Nazareth. The girl's name was Mary and she was engaged to marry Joseph.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

The Christmas Story — The Birth of Jesus Christ
1.
2. Living in the town of Nazareth was a young woman called Mary. She was
promised in marriage to a man called Joseph.
3. God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth with a message for Mary. “Don’t be afraid
Mary,” the angel said, “You have found favor with God.”
4. “You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call Him Jesus. He will
be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. His Kingdom will never end.”
5. “How will this be,” Mary asked, “Since I am a virgin?” “The Holy Spirit will be on
you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be
born will be called the Son of God. Your relative Elizabeth is going to have a child
in her old age and she is now six months pregnant. God’s word never fails.”
6. “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May what you say happen.” Then the
angel left her.
7. When Joseph found that Mary was having a baby, he secretly planned to break the
marriage agreement that had been made as he did not want to expose her to
public disgrace.
8. An angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, don’t be
afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because her baby is from the Holy Spirit.
She will give birth to a son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He
will save His people from their sins.”
9. When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him
and took Mary home as his wife.(He did not consummate their marriage until she
gave birth to a son).
10. Mary went to visit her relative Elizabeth who lived in the hill country of Judea. She and
her husband Zechariah had been promised by God they would have a son who would
grow up to prepare people for the coming of the Savior of the world. When Elizabeth
heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the
Holy Spirit.
11. In a loud voice she exclaimed: “Blessed are you Mary among women, and blessed is the
child you will bear! Why am I so privileged, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
As soon as you greeted me, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. Happy is the woman who
believes the Lord keeps His promises!” Mary burst out in praise, “My soul glorifies the Lord
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior”(Luke 1:46-55).
12. Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home to
Nazareth.
13. Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire
Roman world. Everyone was ordered to return to their family home town to
register.
14. For Mary and Joseph this meant a long trip south to the town of Bethlehem,
because Joseph belonged to the house and line of David. Mary’s baby was due to
be born.
15. When they arrived there was no guest room for them and so they spent the night
where the animals sheltered.
16. That night Mary gave birth to her first born son. She wrapped him in cloths and
placed him in a manger.
17. Jesus, the Savior of the World had arrived just as God had promised.
18. There were shepherds living out in the fields near by, keeping watch over their
flocks at night. Suddenly an angel appeared.
19. The glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
20. The angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause
great joy for everyone. Today in the town of David, a Savior has been born to you.
He is the Messiah, the Lord. You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a
manger.”
21. Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising
God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those
on whom His favor rests.”
22. When this great army of angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to
each other, “Come on! Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s see this wonderful thing the
Lord has told us about.”
23. They ran to Bethlehem and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying
in the manger.
24. The shepherds told everyone what the angel had said to them about this child. All
who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished. Mary quietly treasured these
things in her heart and often thought about them.
25. Then the shepherds went back again to their fields praising God for all the things
they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
26. During the time of King Herod, Wise Men from the east saw a new large bright
star in the night sky. It was a sign to them that a new King had been born. They
packed gifts for the new King and set off on their journey.
27. They followed the new bright star for many weeks and it led them towards the
land of the Jews and the city of Jerusalem where King Herod lived.
28. When the Wise Men got to Jerusalem they asked, “Where is the one who has been
born King of the Jews? We saw His star when it rose and have come to worship
Him.”
29. When King Herod heard this he was disturbed to find out about a new King being
born. He called together the chief priests and teachers of the law to ask them
where the promised Messiah was to be born.
30. “In Bethlehem in Judea,” they replied. “Many years ago, the prophet wrote, “You,
Bethlehem, are not the least of the leaders of Judah. Out of you will come a ruler
who will shepherd my people Israel.”
31. Herod had a secret meeting with the Wise Men to find out what time the star had
appeared. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, “Go and find the child. When you
find Him, let me know so I can go and worship Him also.”
32. The Wise Men set off and were overjoyed when they saw the star. It led them to
Bethlehem and to the place where Mary, Joseph, and the young child Jesus were
staying.
33. The Wise Men bowed before Jesus and worshiped Him. They opened their bags of
riches and presented Him gifts of gold and perfume and spices (frankincense and
myrrh).
34. They were warned in a dream not to go back to Herod. So they went to their own
country by another route.
