Abram, a man who lived in Haran with his wife Sarai but had no children, was visited by God who told him to move to a new land called Canaan. God promised to bless Abram's family. Abram and Sarai obeyed God and moved to Canaan when they were 75 years old. God later appeared to Abram again in Canaan and promised that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars. God changed their names to Abraham and Sarah and said they would have a son despite their old age. Sarah gave birth to a son named Isaac, fulfilling God's promise.
