The 2022 cohort of the Own Your Raise Fellowship program achieved significant successes during their 6-month program. The 15 female founders raised $1 million in funding collectively, increased their combined revenue by 17%, and employed 96 people total across their companies. The fellowship aims to address challenges unique to women founders, such as access to investors and building confidence. It provides founders with legal and leadership coaching, peer support, mentorship, and fundraising training and events. Since 2016, over 90 female founders have participated in the program, raising $65 million in capital and positively impacting the startup ecosystem.
Back in 2016, we created our 'OWN YOUR RAISE' program to solve some of the unique issues women founders face when it comes to raising money: lack of access to knowledge and investor networks and a need for greater confidence and executive leadership growth in scenarios where they are often the only woman in the room. We have created a safe space where fellows can be inspired by and champion each other, where they can connect and build on their leadership and fundraising strategy, and where they can ultimately OWN. THEIR. RAISE.
In 2016 we created the Fellowship For Female Founders, a 6 month+ program to support women from the New England area looking for their 1st outside capital to get the support they deserve.
This fellowship helps them Own Their Story, Own Their Numbers and Own Their Network so they can confidently OWN THEIR RAISE.

The $2 trillion federal coronavirus relief package signed recently, officially known as the CARES Act, includes the nearly $350 Paycheck Protection Program to help small businesses affected by the Coronavirus Pandemic. The new loan program is designed to help small businesses with their payroll and other business operating expenses. The Small Business Administration (SBA) will forgive the portion of the loan proceeds that are used to cover the first eight weeks of payroll costs, rent, utilities, and mortgage interest.
The SBA and the Department of Treasury have released the information that will guide the programs. To help entrepreneurs better understand how can they benefit from the program, we created the webinar in partnership with the SBA, Cambridge Trust and the law firm Nutter to answer questions including:
Who are eligible for a Paycheck Protection Program loan?
How do businesses apply? What information is needed?
How much money can a business receive through the loan program?
When will the loans be available?
What’s the interest rate?
What does the payment schedule look like?
How does the Affiliation Rules affect VC-backed startup’s eligibility?
Can the loan eventually be forgiven? What’s the eligibility for loan forgiveness?
What if the PPP Loan does not cover a business’s needs? What are the other options under the CARES Act?

The Capital Network 2022 Fellowship Impact Report
1. AND employed 96 people during their 6-month Fellowship. WHAT AN
ACHIEVEMENT!
Our Wonderful 2022 Cohort
Marie Meslin, Founder of 'Own Your Raise' Fellowship
& Outgoing TCN Executive Director & President.
"It's a WRAP! Congratulations to our 10th cohort on all
they have achieved! Back in June we welcomed 15 amazing
Fellows from diverse sectors & backgrounds who have
raised $1M, increased their revenue by 17%
We originally created the 'OWN YOUR RAISE' program to solve some of
the unique issues women founders face when it comes to raising money:
lack of access to knowledge and investor networks and a need for greater
confidence and executive leadership growth in scenarios where they are
often the only woman in the room. But this program is now so much more:
it's a safe space where Fellows can be inspired by and champion each
other, connect and build on their leadership & fundraising strategy, and
execute & celebrate their many milestones together.
Reach out and offer this group connections, mentorship and FUNDING.
Donate to help us continue to support female founders and create an
equitable ecosystem."
As this is my last cohort as The Capital Network Executive Director and as
the creator of this fellowship - I am especially proud to have been part of
their growth and part of their community! BUT it's not over: YOU now have
a role to play too:
2. 17%
CAPITAL
RAISED
The 2022 cohort alone has already raised
$1,000,000 in funding - all during a pandemic!
This is particularly impressive as the % of VC dollars in
the U.S. invested in female-founding teams declined from
3.4% pre-pandemic to a mere 2.3% during the pandemic.
We are building a safe space and a comprehensive program
that is defying the down-hill industry standards.

What Our Fellows Had Access To
Our Fellowship's
Impact Since 2016
4. A HUGE Thank you to all our Sponsors and Supporters.
We couldn't have done this without you.
"Women founders get just 2% of venture capital dollars.
TCN has had an outsized influence on the startup world
and our alumnae are showing that raising money and
starting a company are within reach of a diverse group of
founders. In just six months, our 2022 Fellows exceeded
their own expectations by employing 96 people, raising
$1M, and building lifelong ties as female CEOs committed to lifting each
other up. Through these impressive achievements, they have increased
their confidence on topics ranging from fundraising to valuations to
leadership.
The most important part of the Fellowship is the camaraderie and support
Fellows give to one another, sharing ideas and strategies, and, above all,
gaining the confidence to pursue big goals which put them on a path to
expand and grow their businesses."
