The Cajuns are an ethnic group mainly living in Louisiana who are descendants of Acadian exiles from Canada. The Acadians originally came from Acadia, located in what is now eastern Quebec, the Maritime provinces, and New England. When they were expelled by the British, many Acadians resettled in Louisiana. There, they began speaking a unique form of French called Cajun French. Cajun culture has influenced Louisiana's cuisine, music, and way of life.
