Families in 1960s Italy would spend their weekends going out to the countryside to eat food with friends and parents. In the summer, people preferred going to the sea to sunbathe, swim, and often prepared food at home to eat on the beach or in pine woods. Popular weekend activities also included going to the cinema, theatre, or circus, especially for children. At that time, families had more money to spend due to the industrial development in Italy.

2. My parents tell me that in the ‘60S Italian people
generally spent their time in different ways.
During the week-end, for example,
families used to go outside in the
country and eat some foods with
friends or parents.

the sea, for sunbathing or swimming
and even there many people prepared
food at home and used to eat near the
beach or into the pine woods.
Then, people loved very much to go to the
cinema (usually on Saturdays or Sundays)
or to the theatre.
The circus too was a very interesting kind
of fun, especially for the children.
