President Roosevelt addresses Congress to inform them that the United States was attacked by Japan at Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. He states that Japan has undertaken a surprise offensive across the Pacific region, attacking Hong Kong, Guam, the Philippines, Wake Island, and Midway Island in addition to the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Roosevelt asserts that Congress and the American people will make sure this type of treachery does not endanger the United States again and that hostilities now exist, with the nation's people, territory, and interests in grave danger.
