TEXANS HELPING TEXANS
*
Our Mission
Committing to service-above-self, perpetual
training, and inter-agency cooperation to
maintain a constant state of readiness for
search, rescue, incident response and
above all else, safety.
Texas Search and Rescue (TEXSAR) is an all-
volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit first responder
organization headquartered in Austin, Texas.
TEXSAR has teams in the Gulf Coast, North, West,
and Central regions of the State that provide
multi-discipline Search & Rescue, Swiftwater
Rescue, Wildland Fire, and Disaster Response
services. There is never a charge for our
services.
All TEXSAR personnel are certified according to
State and Federal standards, and we operate solely
under the Emergency Management System and the
National Incident Management System (NIMS).
Our personnel are professionally trained volunteers
who not only put their lives on the line in service to
their community, but they also commit financially
to provide for their own training and equipment.
About Us
“TEXSAR is an invaluable resource for law
enforcement and public safety, and I will not
hesitate to call on them for assistance in any
search and rescue incident.”
Police Lieutenant at City of Georgetown
TEXSAR deploys at the request of local law
enforcement, State and Federal Agencies, the
Governor, and relief organizations.
TEXSAR prides itself on being in a constant state
of readiness. This means that we are not only
geared up and ready to deploy at a moment’s
notice, but all TEXSAR members are certified in
their respective disciplines through nationally and
internationally recognized certifying entities, such
as FEMA, Rescue Training International, NASAR,
and American Red Cross.
The TEXSAR Planning Section utilizes the latest
in scientific, tactical methodologies along with a
comprehensive understanding of the behavior of
lost and missing persons to create strategic maps
designating targeted, high priority search areas
to increase the probability of a successful mission
and to use operational resources in the most
effective manner.
We also provide response training to many
agencies and organizations around the state so
they can assist their communities during incidents
and respond to natural and other disasters.
