The team created a Docker container application called "Killer App" that allows new users to easily generate stylized images using neural networks in order to increase visibility, engagement and excitement with the Docker platform. The app offers a simple, beautiful and interactive experience through a single container interface that allows users to generate striking and memorable neural network images. It was inspired by the Holberton School "Neural Style" project and simplifies existing Docker Hub images through a custom-built container with optimized components and an easy host volume linkage for loading and saving images.

This document provides an overview and methodology for assessing the conservation priority of Important Bird Areas (IBAs) in Arizona. This document analyzes the optimal strategy for a card game where a player flips over cards to earn money. It finds that the optimal strategy to maximize expected value is to flip 14 cards. However, it notes that expected value alone does not account for risk. When risk (measured by standard deviation) is incorporated, the best strategy balances reward and risk, which is achieved by flipping 8 cards. The analysis also derives a general formula to find the optimal strategy for similar games.

It describes three key areas of protease engineering: 1) Simultaneously increasing the thermal resistance and activity at low temperatures of Bacillus gibsonii alkaline protease, 2) Increasing the uncontrolled activity of subtilisin Carlsberg towards production of peroxycarboxylic acids as mild bleaching agents, and 3) Altering the pH-dependent activity profile of BgAP to have higher activity at lower pH ranges of 8.5-1. The document provides an in-depth review of protease properties and identifies principles that can be applied to enhance or create variants for industrial applications beyond laundry detergents.

The apps aim to virtually engage the community, provide an efficient method for volunteer data collection, and enhance the visitor experience of the large urban preserve.

We will follow the life cycle of a container through our CD process to its home in our swarm cluster with just a git commit thanks to configuration management. We will cover the CD process for Docker, Docker swarm, Docker networking and service discovery. The audience will leave with a solid foundation of how to build a production ready swarm cluster (A github repo with code will be given). They will also have the knowledge of how to implement a CD framework using Docker.

In this session, we discuss some of the core architectural principles underlying Amazon ECS, a highly scalable, high performance service to run and manage distributed applications using the Docker container engine. We walk through a number of patterns used by our customers to run their microservices platforms, to run batch jobs, and for deployments and continuous integration. We explore the advanced scheduling capabilities of Amazon ECS and dive deep into the Amazon ECS Service Scheduler, which optimizes for long-running applications by monitoring container health, restarting failed containers, and load balancing across containers.

This crash course is designed to give an overview of cloud computing architecture and the open source software that can be used to deploy and manage a cloud computing environment.
Topics to be discussed in this session will include virtualization (KVM, LXC, and Xen Project), orchestration (Apache CloudStack, Eucalyptus, Open Nebula, and OpenStack), and storage (GlusterFS, Ceph, and others). The talk will also provide insight into how to deliver Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and what technologies can be used to compliment this evolving cloud computing paradigm.
Systems administrators and IT generalists will leave the discussion with a general overview of the options at their disposal to effectively build and manage their own cloud computing environments using free and open source software and understand the capabilities and benefits of a host of technologies.

I look at how Microservice applications are typically developed and deployed using container technology and look at some of the challenges of using container technology for applications in production.
