2. TESOL
TESOL, or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, is a qualification that helps
teachers understand how language and culture interact with one another. It also teaches you
how to teach — many English speakers instinctively know how to use grammar and
vocabulary properly but may not be able to explain why or when to use it. This is where
TESOL training comes in. Schools worldwide rely on TESOL-certified teachers, and it's a
trend that is only increasing.
4. TESOL DEMAND
According to the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), ESL learners number over 5
million students and comprise about 10% of the entire student body in U.S. K-12 classrooms. In
addition, more than one billion people are learning English worldwide. So the demand for ESL
teachers with TESOL credentials is very high.
The field of TEFL/TESOL represents one of the fastest-growing educational sectors worldwide. It
presents thousands of excellent professional opportunities for teaching English abroad in all corners of
the globe to native and fluent English speakers who earn their TEFL/TESOL certification.
5. TESOL IMPORTANCE
TESOL certificate is the standard
qualification required by employers for
anyone who intends to work as an
English language teacher at home,
overseas, or online.
As a TESOL qualified teacher you will
be able to apply for most teaching
positions around the world as you will
have completed the standard entry level
qualification that is expected by
schools, language centers, universities,
colleges, private businesses, and any
other type of employer that provides
language instruction.
Another benefit of TESOL for a teacher
is that completing such a course
demonstrates to potential employers
that you take the role of a language
teacher seriously and are therefore
happy to put in the time, effort, and
money required to achieve it.
Valuable skills are added to your
resume. Showing employers that you
have formal training is a testament to
your expertise and dedication to the
field. If your course includes live
teaching practice, this also
demonstrates experience working with
students which is especially useful for
new teachers.
You can gain a competitive edge.
Since most employers prefer or require
that their English language teachers
have a teaching qualification, having a
TESOL certificate will increase your
chances of being hired other
candidates who don't have one. This
You may be eligible for promotions
and higher salaries. In some
countries, teachers are compensated
more based on their qualifications.
Having an accredited TESOL certificate
could land you a higher – paying job or
promotions that come with a better
salary.
