The Research is aimed at the study of Royal Enfield Brand in Indian Markets – So far how they have performed and suggestions for them to grab more market share and be profitable. Every year, they have sold modest numbers but despite low numbers, they continue to command a position of respect and awe in the Indian motorcycle market. The objective of the study was to study the different product lines, marketing strategy and Brand Management of Royal Enfield Bullets in Indian market.
1. Bullet riders are mostly Value-Expressive, with an internal locus of control and a strong sense of independence.
2. The company has been cashing in on the iconic status it has and has done little to reinforce its image amongst an exploding two-wheeler market.
3. The pricing of the motorcycle might also be looked upon as conservative.
Royal Enfield has for a while now targeted the youth market with lure of freedom. However, they have done little to reinforce their position. Maybe advertising campaigns targeted at the Value-expressive customer would enable the brand to reap the benefits of its iconic position in a much more productive way. Also, most users find it imperative for the company to improve its After Sales Service and Spares availability.

ROYAL ENFIELD
The oldest motorcycle company in continuous production, Royal Enfield made its first motorcycle in
1901. A division of Eicher Motors Limited, Royal Enfield has created the mid-size motorcycle segment
in India with its unique and distinctive modern classic bikes. With its enhanced manufacturing base in
Chennai, India, Royal Enfield is able to grow its production rapidly against a surge in demand for its
motorcycles. With 50% growth every year for the last 3 years, Royal Enfield is fast becoming a very
important player in the global mid-size motorcycle market and is working towards re-inventing this
space with motorcycles that are evocative and engaging and great fun to ride. Royal Enfield’s product
line‐up includes the Bullet, Classic and Thunderbird models in both 350 and 500cc displacements; and
the recently introduced Continental GT 535cc café racer. Royal Enfield operates through 12 company-

EICHER POLARIS PVT LTD
In 2012, Eicher Motors Limited signed a strategic joint venture agreement with US based Polaris
Industries Inc., to design, develop, manufacture and sell a full new range of personal vehicles suitable
for India and other emerging markets. The JV will allow Eicher Motors Ltd. to enter into a new vehicle
segment. In 2013, the JV company- Eicher Polaris Pvt. Ltd (EPPL), set up its manufacturing facility in
Jaipur, Rajasthan. The project is now in its advanced stages of development and production of the
four- wheeled personal vehicle is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2015.
VE COMMERCIAL VEHICLES LTD.
VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV) is a joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors
Limited. In operation since July 2008, the company includes the complete range of Eicher branded
trucks and buses, VE Powertrain, Eicher’s components and engineering design services businesses, the
sales and distribution business of Volvo Trucks as well as aftermarket support to Volvo Buses in India.
VECV’s vision is to be recognized as the industry leader driving modernization in commercial
transportation in India and the developing world.

The Growth Story
‘International Business’ is becoming a distinct and wholesome operation with presence in over 20
countries and overseas exports volume having crossed 35000 commercial vehicles with highest ever
sales in 2015 at 5800+ units. The exports business growth this year has been driven by many market
specific initiatives including the implementation of new sales processes, intensified marketing
activities, strengthened feet on the street, Customer Value Proposition establishment in South Asia
markets, building market proximity through local presence in key markets, new products introduction,
training and competence.
With a record-breaking performance this fiscal, VECV International Business has registered an

This is a desktop study which involves the data collection through individual dealers and automobile
agencies of those countries. The statistical data has been taken from the OICA (Organisation
Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles). After the collection of the data BCG Matrix is used
to differentiate the priority group for the entry. Finally Porters Five Forces Model is used country wise.

ANALYSIS
The matrix above is known as BCG matrix which compares the market presence with the total
industrial volume. BCG matrix divides the area into four parts with four different scenarios.
Following is the analysis of the countries according to the sales volume and VE’s presence.
First one with low market presence and low industrial volume countries. It means that the
countries which come under this category have very less sales as compared to others and also
VE does not have any presence in these countries. I have taken the barrier to be less than 200.
Second is the low sales volume and VE’s presence in the country, here the strategy would be
not to incur much costs by focusing on these countries and rather shift to the more worthy
countries with high CV sales.
Third are the ones with high sales volume and VE’s presence in the countries. Here the
strategy would be to continue with the current scenario and increase the market share by
either increasing the distribution network or product portfolio.
Fourth is the high industrial volume and no presence of VE vehicles, this includes the countries
with most number of sales and huge prospects to sell vehicles. This should be the priority of
the company for now.
RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE COMPANY
Following are the three key recommendations I would like to suggest to the company which are in
general applicable to the complete department
1. On discussing with the colleagues about the issues and problems faced, I found out that the
supply chain has a huge scope for improvement. Volvo’s expertise will be helpful in this regard.
2. The bigger markets like Latin America are not considered right now, whereas the competitors
like TATA Motors are working hard to enter those markets also. The OICA figure show that
total sales in Latin America in 2014 was 1,581,383 units whereas in Africa, it was 469,103.
3. The foremost is to sign up with international automobile societies, statistical organizations
like OICA, Statistica etc. which would provide the accurate data when required and also tool
proving websites like E Spatial which helps in mapping the locations.
