World Wide Partners - Mini DIG Day - Defining InnovationEngauge
The document discusses elements that contribute to innovation clusters throughout history. It notes that exposure to new ideas, cultures, and technologies allows for more innovation as people can be exposed to new thinking. Education also plays a role, as innovative cultures developed new forms of teaching and learning. Institutions that encourage risk-taking foster more innovation as well. Multiple discoveries are often made independently and simultaneously due to these conditions that drive progress. Overall, the document argues that innovation is inevitable when these elements of exposure, education, and risk-taking are present.

Lessons of a Boomerang Longing for Authenticity: Joy Roller at TEDxCLETEDxCLE
As President of Global Cleveland, Joy Roller leads a civic/corporate initiative to increase the population of Northeast Ohio and strengthen the region by connecting immigrants and domestic newcomers to its opportunities, resources and services and promoting the region as a welcoming place for all.
For the past six years, Joy served as Executive Director of the Gordon Square Arts District, a collaboration of three separate non-profit organizations in a single $30 million capital campaign. On November 15, 2012, The Plain Dealer reported that Joy was, “The woman who oversaw the conversion of Cleveland’s Gordon Square Arts District into an edgy, creative economic engine is about to bring her exuberance and marketing mojo to a wider audience.” Since May 2006, the campaign has transformed Cleveland’s Detroit Shoreway neighborhood by attracting 75 new businesses, creating over 520 jobs, restoring the 1920s Capitol Theatre, renovating the Cleveland Public Theatre, groundbreaking for Near West Theatre’s new performance center and making extensive streetscape improvements and parking acquisitions.
In addition to her economic development experience in Gordon Square, Roller brings over twenty years as a television producer and political campaign manager to her current position. A one-time political director of United State Secretary of State John Kerry’s first successful race for public office, Roller started her television production career at WJW in Cleveland. Her writing, producing and directing credits have appeared on HGTV, VH1, TLC, Discovery, Lifetime and PBS.
Roller holds a Masters of Theological Studies degree from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and economics from Denison University. In 2004, she returned to Cleveland from New York City to attend Cleveland State University’s John Marshall College of Law. She graduated with a Juris Doctor degree in December 2007.

About TED
TED is an annual event where some of the world’s leading thinkers and doers are invited to share what they are most passionate about. “TED” stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design — three broad subject areas that are, collectively, shaping our future. And in fact, the event is broader still, showcasing ideas that matter in any discipline. Attendees have called it “the ultimate brain spa” and “a four-day journey into the future.” The diverse audience — CEOs, scientists, creatives, philanthropists — is almost as extraordinary as the speakers, who have included Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Frank Gehry, Paul Simon, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck and Bono.
TED was first held in Monterey, California, in 1984. In 2001, Chris Anderson’s Sapling Foundation acquired TED from its founder, Richard Saul Wurman. In recent years, TED has expanded to include an international conference, TEDGlobal; media initiatives, including TED Talks and TED.com; and the TED Prize.

This document shows the lifetime cost of care per person for various neurological conditions. Multiple Sclerosis costs $5 million per person to care for over a lifetime. Alzheimer's Disease is the most expensive at $6.7 million per person. Cerebral Palsy among children costs $200,000 per person on average to care for over a lifetime.
The document introduces "The Harrington Project for Discovery & Development" which aims to bridge the "Valley of Death" between pre-clinical research and clinical trials in developing new medicines. It notes that while disease discoveries have increased, the ability to translate that into clinical applications has slowed. The Harrington Project seeks to accelerate breakthrough discoveries into medicines through a nonprofit-for-profit model collaborating with research institutions and disease foundations.
1. The document discusses making bold plans and aiming high to inspire others through transformational change.
2. It covers executing counterintuitive moves by embracing failure, having courage to divest, and curating your support network.
3. The overall message is about thinking ambitiously and strategically executing plans through perseverance.
The song describes a typical suburban neighborhood where all the houses are little boxes made of ticky tacky and they all look just the same. While the houses look identical on the outside, the people living inside have different lives and dreams. The song criticizes the conformity and lack of individuality in such cookie-cutter developments.

6. Ideas worth spreading
CLE
TED TED is an annual event where some of the world’s
leading thinkers and doers are invited to share what
they are most passionate about. “TED” stands for
Technology, Entertainment, Design – three broad
subject areas that are, collectively, shaping
our future. And in fact, the event is broader still,
showcasing ideas that matter in any discipline.
The diverse audience – CEOs, scientists, creatives,
philanthropists – is almost as extraordinary as the
speakers, who have included Bill Clinton, Bill Gates,
Jane Goodall, Frank Gehry, Paul Simon, Sir Richard
Branson, Philippe Starck and Bono. TED was first
held in Monterey, California, in 1984. In 2001, Chris
Anderson’s Sapling Foundation acquired TED from
its founder, Richard Saul Wurman. In recent years,
TED has expanded to include an international
conference, TEDGlobal; media initiatives, including
TEDTalks and TED.com; and the TED Prize.
7. TEDxCLE 7
TEDx In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx
is a program of local, self-organized events
that bring people together to share a TED-like
experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks videos and
live speakers combine to spark deep discussion
and connection. These events are branded
TEDx, where x=independently organized TED
event. The TED conference provides general
guidance for the TEDx program, but individual
TEDx events are self organized.
TEDxCLE TEDxCLE has been organized by Clevelanders
Hallie Bram and Eric Kogelschatz in effort
to bring Cleveland innovation, development,
and positive change to the world. At TEDxCLE,
TEDTalks video and live speakers, spanning
topics such as health care, urban revitalization,
alternative energy, and product development, will
combine to spark deep discussion and connection
amongst speakers and attendees alike.

#wratharcane
Biography WRATH ARCANE was started on January 3, 2006
when Cleveland boutique owner Brian O’neill called
Cleveland designer and long-time friend Sean Bilovecky.
The next day the two began tossing around ideas and
making patterns. By the end of April ’06 WRATH ARCANE
had developed a small production run (Spring ’06) and
was in Brian’s store Brigade (clothingbrigade.com) for
WRATH’s first official release party. Within two weeks the
line had 100 percent sell-through.
Since then, WRATH ARCANE has grown into an
international menswear label. Although being based
in Cleveland has presented WRATH ARCANE with
challenges an average clothing line would not have
to face, their location, both geographic and economic,
has been crucial for the label to define who it is and
what it wants to say.
