We were very pleased will
the participation in the
Technology Needs
Assessment Survey.
Eighty-five percent of the
instructional staff
participated in the survey.
Based on data provided by a
recent survey given to the
teachers at Sixth Ward
Elementary, we designed our
needs assessment focusing on
three areas: teachers perception
of technology, how technology
resources are currently being
used, and what professional
development would they like for
the district or school to provide
in regards to technology.
Do you feel technology
motivates students?
Would you like to integrate more
technology?
How comfortable do you feel using new technology in you
classroom?
How would you describe your skill level in regards to
technology?
Which of the following technologies are you comfortable
using?
Do you feel adequate access to technical support is
available?
What have you done to increase your
knowledge of technology?
Do you consult publications, online journals, or
other resources to find research-based practices
in teaching with technology?
When integrating technology into
instruction, you are:
How often do your students use technology in
their assignments?
Which type of technology does your
students use most?
Do you use technology to collect and analyze student
assessment data?
How do you use technology to support or increase
teacher productivity?
How do you use technology to support
communication and interaction with parents and the
community?
How important do you feel technology professional
development is for teachers?
Would you prefer to have professional development
site based or online?
Would you be interested in taking distance learning
or online classes through the school system?
Which Web 2.0 tools would you like to receive
professional development on?
Which type of technology professional development
would you like to attend?
What is/are the major obstacles when using
technology in the classroom?
To conclude our needs
assessment, we asked several
questions to gather
information about the
demographics of our faculty
and staff. Questions
addressed grade level and
subjects taught. Also, we
asked how many years
teaching experience they
have.
Which grade level do you teach?
Which subjects do you teach?
How many years have you been
teaching?
needs assessment survey, we have
concluded that we will implement
technology professional development using
the Flipped PD method. The professional
development will focus on Web 2.0 tools
including Weebly, Kidblog, and Prezi.
Results indicated 93% of teachers would
like to receive training on Weebly, 87%
would like to receive training on Kidblog,
and 56% would like training on Prezi. In
addition, we would like to design a novice
session focusing on the technology
programs, which are used in our school
daily such as Triumph Learning and
Dyknow. Only 12% indicated they felt
comfortable using Triumph Learning and
Documentation that we have our
principal's permission.
