2. Cell Phones: “Attached at the
Hand”
Cell phones in the future will have more innovative
functions such as Flexibility. Instead of the device having a
solid and firm structure, we will have the ability to fold
and maneuver this phone. This way when we drop our
phones on accident ,there is no worry of the screen
cracking or the phone breaking
Another important aspect that will be implemented into
phone functions is the ability to project the screen onto
different surfaces. The phone contents will be able to be
accessed even when you don’t have the phone in your
hand
4. Cars of the Future
Self driving cars: You will be able to input your
destination and the car will drive itself. It will have
voice automated functions and sensors so that it’s able
to slow down, stop, go and maintain a certain rate of
speed
5. Out with the paper, in with the
electronic money
In 2027, cash will be a thing of the past. Debit cards
will be dwindling in usage and we will just scan from
our phones to pay for goods and services.
Instead of having to insert a debit card into ATM’s, we
can just type in our information/ account number’s to
withdrawal money or make deposits. Trips to the bank
will be very limited due to the technology will have by
2027
6. Television in the Future
No need for remotes: TV’s will fully be voice activated
TV’s will have a software instilled in them, similar to
Netflix, that takes your regular shows and suggests
content you may like based on what you have
previously watched
Smart TV’s only
Control content from your phone
Holograms
7. Education: On Board with the
Times
Education in terms of technology when it comes to K-
12 has stuck to some very outdated ways. In the years
to come, children will be able to have structured
academic plans based on their learning styles
Homework will be all online.
Students will undergo yearly individualized tests to
better determine their learning styles and their
homework will be personalized based on this
Education will thrive, less children will be held back
8. Roger’s Diffusion of Innovations
This theory explains how and at what rate technology
is growing and idea’s are spreading
This theory is applicable when considering where we
might be in 2027. It’s important to consider our needs
for technology now and what idea’s may be considered
for the future.
Technology grows based on social framework, we
essentially create and adapt to new technology.
9. Uses and Gratifications Theory
This theory refers to why and how people seek out
specific media to satisfy their needs
The audience has the power to choose the media they
immerse themselves in
When choosing these five technologies in the future,
USG is important because our interests evolve over
time. What demands might we have in a cell phone,
TV, car, education and currency in 2027? It’s up to us as
the audience to pick and choose the media we involve
ourselves in
10. The Principle of Relative Constancy
This theory seeks to maintain the system of technical
equipment at a low and constant level
It’s important to understand that the devices we use
are based off the initial concept; it started with a
telephone, now we have mobile phones. Books then
kindles. Computers then laptops. Money then debit
cards or electronic spending. Although these
technologies are forever evolving, at their core, they
remain constant.
