This document outlines a technology contract between parents and their child regarding responsible use of technology devices. The contract specifies rules such as not using phones or computers during class, having parental approval before adding contacts, and not saying inappropriate things online or through texts. I understand that I need to responsibly use the technology that mom and dad give me. This includes the cell phone,
computer (whether it’s mine or someone else’s), Xbox, Wii and any website that I visit, download or join.
I understand:
I am not allowed to text during class. Phone will be turned off unless being used for teacher-led activity.
I am not allowed to phone anyone during class. If I have an emergency, I will ask my teacher to use a school
phone to call my mom/dad.
I am not allowed to add anyone to my contacts list on my phone without prior approval from my mom/dad.
I am not allowed to call or text any girls until permitted by my mom/dad; this includes my phone as well as my
friend’s phones.
I am not allowed to use cuss words when texting, on the computer, or verbally.
I am not allowed to say inappropriate things in texts, on the computer, or verbally.
I am not allowed to share photos where I am posing in a way that I wouldn’t in front of my own family.
I understand that my phone or other tech-device will be turned off at bedtime and I will not use it.
I understand that my parents can and will monitor my phone and online activity whenever they want.
I understand that I have a choice to either leave my phone in the kitchen at night or that my parents will use the
service that automatically shuts off my phone at night.
We have an “open phone” policy. That means mom or dad can review my calls and texts whenever they want.
I can change my password, but mom and dad need to know it.
If a stranger ever contacts me or texts me I need to and will show my parents.
If I see someone being mean to another person, I will tell them to stop and then tell mom and dad.
If someone is mean to me online, I will not respond. I will tell mom or dad so we can make a copy.
If someone asks me something inappropriate when I am online, I understand that I need to tell mom/dad. I also
know I will not get in trouble.
I understand that I am not allowed to lie about my age to anyone or to join a website.
I understand that there are consequences for not following these rules. Those consequences may include losing
the privilege to use my cell phone, computer or Xbox.
I understand that I absolutely will NOT GET IN TROUBLE if my friends do something I know is wrong with
technology, as long as I do not engage with them in this activity.
I understand this contract is for my well-being and safety because my parents love me.
